The bike is 15 years old or so, so 65k is hardly starship mileage is it? Unless you do 1000-2000 miles per year. Ducati owners!

Hmm, if I and my bike last long enough then my MultiStrada will have about 170,000 miles up after 15 years ownership. I'm nowhere near the highest miler as recent threads have shown and I don't think 12k a year is OTT. That 851 must have been averaging just over 4k a year, maybe the owner had other bikes as well so he didnt use it in the rain, snow or salty roads. The fact that it's still going strong after 65k is a fine example of what can be acheived, if that's you want to do.
If people enjoy riding their bikes so much, why dont they do it more ;)

If the milage puts bidders off, it might go cheap to someone to part out for spares

Heheh, yeah it's not really so bad at 4000 per year is it. It's nice to see one being used instead of shut away like a 'Living Doll..' eh lads. Eh. ;)

I fancy an older 851, might be tempted to take a punt. I could even use it all winter  if it's a bit tatty round the edges, like Bagpuss...

Good testament to owners and Ducati that a 16 year old bike can still look desirable, IMHO anyways !

When I had my first 851,12 years ago I did 10k miles in one year, have to say my service bill did come to over £1000. I went through
1 x sprag clutch,
2 X clutches,
1 x set cam belts,
2 x set of tyres,
2 x chain and sprockets,
Relapped valves & re-shimed,
Fuel pump,
Throttle positioning sensor.

And the biggest grin I've ever had...

I have a t8 strada with 40,000 miles on the clock, it is still in mint nick, and goes mega, even been on the track, no problem. just service them, and ride them hard, they love it.

It went for 1750 in the end. Good price I thought. They do hold their money !

Talking about Starships (well sort of). See some sad git bought the original Starship Enterprise model for 308,000 quid!
There's life Jim, but not as we know it.

Quick, quick think of an excuse.
Believe it or not it was an article on the front page of the bbc news website!
I can think of a few other things to do a third of a million spondoolies.
