FEBRUARY 2007

DUCATI DESMODUE/CB500 & FRIENDS

ONLY 40 PEOPLE CAN ATTEND - DON'T MISS OUT!!!

This event is being run by international trackday specialists, www.RACEDAYS.net

CIRCUIT DETAILS HERE (http://guadixcircuit.com/track.htm)

DON'T JUST RIDE YOUR BIKE...

...cancel Easter and get up to the Sierra Nevada after the trackday. Its great skiing, although pretty high (10,000 ft) and the atmosphere is top (no pun intended). Boarding is excellent as they have a full on board park - half pipes and biiiig jumps. It's cheap as well.

NOT JUST TESTING & SKIING, HOW ABOUT...

A couple of days off-roading with Redtread in the Sierra Nevada directly afterwards (please ask).

SO WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO NEXT?

Call Gerry @ Racedays on 0049 1722 963 100

He will need a £100 refundable deposit on a credit card.

If there aren't enough takers by 15th December, you will get all your money back!

Flights will still be cheap to book (in December) if the event does go ahead.

I see no reason why you couldn't join in John.

I guess that is more down to the racers, as this is aimed at DD & Minitwin racers to get some good tracktime in before the season starts.

I have no issues with it, but I think we'd have to be a bit careful opening it up to general trackdayers etc.

We are looking for approx 30 people though (plus the Minitwin peeps).

Aha, so this is what Dom's been up to instead of sorting our site out. Touting for business! I've spoken to the Circuit today about this and they'll try and sort a weekend out in Feb/early March. HRC have booked a load of dates but we 've told Kiyo he's out of luck - Ducatis first....

The price will come in at around £450 including hotel for 4 nights (if people don't mind sharing a twin room) and insured bike transport. This has been subsidised by circuit Guadix and Racedays as part of a promotional drive following major refurbishment works at the track. It's based on only 40 riders attending so there's probably time for a DD group and 1 or 2 trackday groups. Less than 40 and it won't happen I'm afraid (don't mind doing it gratis but not minus) I'm happy to have a nominated 'auditor' look at the accounts for this to confirm it's genuine. We're keen to work with club racers and especially the DD series so spread the word and we should be able to make it happen eh?

Thanks, Gerry

PS Dom should have the Guadix vid up soon...? - pretty quick Spanish guy on a GSXR 1000. kof....proper bike...kof:D

Can ordinary DSCers join in with the 'trackday' bit or do they have to be part of the DD lot?

I don't especially want to get out there with those nutters from the DD but I would like a foreign track trip at the beginning of next season, and this sounds like very good value.

I'm looking for the following terms:-

1. If I have to ride with the DDers, they all promise (in writing) not to scare the bejeezus out of me
2. In return, I promise to try not to be a mobile chicane
3. I'd prefer to share a room with a girlie, or pay a reasonable single room supplement
4. If 1 - 3 are satisfied, and it doesn't clash with my skiing holiday (which is supposed to be over Easter), I'd like to come, please :)

racedays
12-Oct-2006, 20:59
Hi Ruth, it's really up to the DD guys how they would want to run it but with 40 riders having the whole track to themselves for 3 days you could easily run 2 or 3 groups and have quality tracktime. The hotel is very reasonable if you would like a single room, but I'm sure there must be some other Ducati lady riders would wish to attend.

Skiing wise - cancel Easter and get up to the Sierra Nevada after the trackday. Its great skiing, although pretty high (10,000 ft) and the atmosphere is top (no pun intended). Zero Germans = No hassle at the lifts! Boarding is excellent as they have a full on board park - half pipes and biiiig jumps. (Which J.McW fell off ha!) This is actually the only reason I'm doing all this -so I can sneak off for a play! It's cheap as well.

Re - earlier question on committment (eek) - £100 refundable deposit until 15 December on a credit card will do it. If there aren't enough takers then money back, nothing lost and the flights should still be cheap to book when we confirm. (obviously if we get the numbers earlier we're off!)

Thanks, Gerry

Hi everyone. We've managed to secure the weekend of Sat-Mon, 24th - 25th February for this event. This is an absolutely premium weekend date - straddled by the top BSB teams so an early show of interest would be very much appreciated. Any suggestions as to how you would like this to be run would be appreciated. (we'll take care of the safety side - but it's your event so let me know which timings you would like etc.)

For the better off DD'er we can also arrange a couple of days offroading with Redtread in the Sierra Nevada directly afterwards.

Hope the date fits. Thanks G

Well I think that if we get 30+ racers (DD/CB) then we could possibly run an open pit lane type scenario.

We're all 'family' so I'm sure everyone would trust each other and ride accordingly, don't you think?

Other wise we run a group of 25-30 race bikes and 10-15 trackday bikes???

Basically, we have 40 spaces.

It's up to you guys really - just how DD should be ;)

Yes. And Sarah flameslinger is too, I think. I shall be talking to her about it at the dinner dance - that's next Saturday, Rally, the one you're not going to.

Dom, is this the official list or it the other thread the one to put names on?

I think that's fine Mike.

I think we should go with the idea of having 2 groups - 1 x race, 1 x trackday.

Then if we want to run as 1 group/open pit lane type thing we can.

I think 2 groups is smart. Enough room for racers and trackdayers.

As good as Ruth.

I thought that I better put a thread in the Trackdays section in case peeps don't read DD threads.

I had a chat to AK last night (spies everywhere!) and we thought it may be an idea if peeps didn't want to go all the way to Brandon, Norfolk (near Snett I think) to drop off their bikes, then perhaps we could have a get together somewhere central and perhaps combine it with a lunch or something?

Otherwise, I think MCM Motorfrieght will drive to several regions to collect bikes (at extra cost).

Will find out for definate.

I think it will be this hotel... Hotel Villa de Gor (http://www.hotelvilladegor.com/hotel.htm)

I think it also works our at about £20 a night (extra) per person, so I guess you can book your own double room (or twin  twin room I mean :o) instead of sharing with one of us hairy people :D

I will ask Gerry to pop on and answer some questions betterer :)

£20 per night plus grub etc dom?
is grub included for us who have booked or is this extra as need to budget for this
have worked out that will cost me £100 - £120 to do 2 trips to near Snett to drop of and collect bikes so if they can pick up round here for less i will save dosh and time too :)

Have read all the thread and talked to Chass today - I'm up for the trip but have 2 questions:

1 - I'll be in the trackday group – would it be OK to use my Aprilia RS250 track bike, or do I need to make sure Louigi books my 749 engine work in before the trip? The Aprilia is cheaper to crash!

2 - Anyone else going from Bristol area? Two reasons - bike transportation to Norfolk + flying Bristol to Malaga and sharing a hire car?

You can ride anything you like in the trackday group.

2 - Anyone else going from Bristol area? Two reasons - bike transportation to Norfolk + flying Bristol to Malaga and sharing a hire car?

I spoke to MCM Motofreight today, and it sounds likely that next year they will be doing a national collection service only (to/from motorway services etc), rather than a 'drop it off in Norfolk' service.

Will keep you posted as nothing is confirmed, but either way, the Louigi Moto bikes will need to go, so we can probably sort yours out as well - probably, somehow.

Telly, what's that? Right 2nd time lucky. It's not the same doing it again, the magic's gone….

Hi everyone, looks like there's a lot of interest in this and it should be a goer so a bit of info:

Hotel. We've asked the Hotel Villa de Gor to reserve us 20 twin rooms. They are yet to give us a final price for extra guests but should be around £20 a night with breakfast. We need to know pretty soon how many non-riding guests please to arrange the extra. The hotel is pretty good (we've stayed there often and it makes the £120 a night Brands Thistle look like a bad joke!) There is a gym for the supafit DD racers, a 6 person Jacuzzi for, er….family groups? A pool table, bar and a great restaurant next door with 24 hour cocktails. It's 5 minutes from the track. Guadix town is about 15 mins from the hotel and has plenty of bars and a scarey night club run by Russians where even famous BSB racers have been told off…Guadix also has one of the best restaurants in the world, ever, and it's in a cave. Cool or what? It would be a great night out for everyone so if there's an interest we'll reserve the 'big' cave.

Weather. It can be pretty parky in Feb/Mar even in Southern Spain, and a bit of snow all the way to Morrocco isn't unheard of if there's a polar airmass moving down (see those Seats spin!). However the track has only had to close because of snow on 2 separate days in separate years in the last decade. In the last such unusual cold spell teams were coming from a closed Jerez to test at Guadix so it really is in the hands of the Gods. There's usually a breeze at the circuit and in the unlikely event of overnight precipitation the track should be dry by 10ish. In general it's warm in the sun and chilly at night. So bring some woollies rather than shorts and t-shirts (will probably be 25 c now I've said that….)

Extras –
Dean Ellison should be available for instruction at very reasonable rates. Dean's one of the nicest guys you could meet and when he's not making Gurlies swoon he's one of the fastest riders out there. As he'll prove next year when he's on a decent bike…shh… (may be an honourary DDer for 07….)
Iain Wayne, ex TT racer and all round capable spanner monkey will be on hand to fix the inevitable mishaps/blowups (30 + Dukes…eek) at a small cost and we'll have tyre sales and changing facilities to hand as well.

Skiing/Boarding, Ferrari hot laps, top offroading with Redtread – let us know if you fancy making a holiday of it. We have special rates with these guys and are happy to pass them on for this event.

Sadly I've got to go to Mugello now :D , then Holland :sniff: , Germany :barfy: then Jerez :D so the best way to contact us is by e-mail please at info@racedays.net I'll then send you a 'DesmoDue and special guests' booking form and we'll confirm as soon as numbers are reached.

Thanks for the interest, it should be a blast , and thanks to the DSC forum for letting us advertise it here.:saint:

And special thanks to Dom for getting it rolling. You're great Dom.

Then Malaga - 90 mins?

Anywhere else is a bit more of a trek.

Easycar (the only one I checked) do a 9 seater MPV for £170 from Friday - Tuesday. So between 6 peeps thats only £30 each.

Budget flights look to be about £40-£50 return - despite saying they should be £3.99 blah blah.

Just to confirm everybody knows - it will be either 2 groups or open pit lane. Any type of bike welcome but you have to be an invited DD guest. In more news Guadix is being totally resurfaced and extended in December to include a flat in third, triple apex right hander . Nice! DDers will probably get to set the official lap record, for 2 days anyway!

Not purely for that, Dibs. They'll be for the minor mishaps where I drop the bike turning it round in a car park or on someone's drive, or outside my Aunt's house in Wolverhampton, and then I thought they'd also be quite practical for when I throw it down the track. Seems like a good investment as my bike insurance doesn't cover me for track riding. :D

Monarch Gatwick-Malaga £86

Fly out Friday pm, return Tues midday

Easyjet is about £20 cheaper and also goes GAtwick-Almeria but is an hour later going out and an hour earlier coming back.

Ryanair fly direct from Stansted to Granada but the return flights don't get back in until 23.05 so for me it would make a really long day Monday or sitting around all day Tuesday as I'm over 2 hours from Stansted.

Thomson and Flybe don't have a Friday flight from Gatwick

I figured that it was worth the gamble as flights will get more expensive the closer it gets, and I wanted times to suit me!

Many thanks

Dear All, hope you had a productive meeting on Saturday. Can I just reiterate the booking conditions for this event. It will go ahead as soon as we have received 40 confirmed applications. An application is only confirmed if made on a Racedays booking form and credit card details are supplied. The credit card details will be verified and £100 deposit debited upon reaching the required number to do the event. This deposit is non-refundable. If the event goes ahead it will be debited, This is the only method to discourage 'tyre-kickers' (trade term!) and although there are people with genuine reasons to change their minds we need to discourage this to avoid disappointment for everyone else at the last minute. This event is going to be great fun and I'm working on a special guest to make it even more special. Booking forms received so far, in no particular order:

John Williams
Paul Payne
Tony Perrin
Dominic Cann
Richard Cashmore
Van Van de Moir
Tom Grzelinski
Ruth Allistone
Nigel Young
Thomas Young
Phil Clark

I was looking at the numbers yesterday and thinking I may look at booking a flight today, but the numbers seem to have been reduced a little this morning. Has anyone else booked flights, hire cars etc yet. From where to where and don't say Uk to Spain:lol:  What sort of prices?

Hi Mike, I'm sure a large number of the people in the original list are sending their forms in. The above list are the people whose forms are already there. Only three have dropped out.

It had better happen, as I've already booked!

We'll be debiting the deposits this week. Following that the transport company Motofreight will be forwarded a list of all attending. They will collate this into a provisional collection schedule and contact you directly to see if you wish to take part in this service (there is a surcharge payable to Motofreight for this). Collection and delivery will be approximately 1 week either side of the event. The delivery point if you wish to take your bikes directly is Brandon in Norfolk. It will probably be another few weeks until you are contacted so please be patient - it's a very hectic period!

The balance would normally be due 8 weeks prior but as that will be Christmas we'll be debiting it in the first week of January. Please ensure there are sufficient funds to cover the balance - it costs us a fortune chasing everyone up on their mobiles :(

I'll be e-mailing everyone individually with the full event details and to arrange rooming lists.

looks do-able.

just gonna have to be careful where we put our helmets!

yeah we can sort a car no problem. lets see how many book on these flights and take it from there.

so far we have:

dickie
dominic
ruth
vman
chass

if it stays like that i recon we can go for a people carrier job.

or a mini each and have a little hire car challenge on the way to the hotel

Anyone going from Bristol?

I'm thinking of flying Easyjet Bristol to Malaga and getting a car. Should be two of us going this route.

Anyone else?

I could well be up for that. It depends if anyone wants to go skiing but not had much interest there so far. I know Easyjet fly to Malaga from Bristol as I've used it myself a couple of times. Parkings a lot cheaper than Gatwick too.

Right - seems that some of the Stansted flights are now booked up!!!

So have booked the same Monarch flights as Paul Payne.

Gatwick - Malaga - flight details below; Out
Fri, 23 Feb 07
flight ZB 742
Depart 15:40 - London Gatwick
Arrive Malaga - 19:25

Return
Tue, 27 Feb 07
flight ZB 737
Depart 12:00 - Malaga
Arrive 13:30 - Gatwick

Total cost £85 with taxes.
Oh yeh - and you can even reserve your seat for an additional fee - I did, but it means I'm flying the bluddy thing!!! ;)

If anyone else wants to get on these and share hire car - let me know.
