How much Fuel did a desmo due bike use in a season of racing?
Not Including ****ing about with the boys on the local car park!

on average one bike has used between 2 & a half & 4 & a half litres per race depending on track size (or each one of ours has).

Of 8 rounds, 6 were 2 round races & 2 were single races (assen & donny) average this to 3.25 per race and dont allow for practice/qualifying, then you could use approx 45.5 litres (or approx 10 gallons??) in the season per bike
but we always use more than this as we take 2 x 20 litre jerry cans and use most of it for each meeting but that is for 2 bikes. We need a 3rd can if doing a TD the day before.
Add qualifying and also possibly the odd trackday before a meeting and the usage goes right up.
For example a trackday at Donnington for one bike just before the meeting used about 10 litres.

Cost a lot more in the summer as prices are down by about 10p a litre now.

well our phase one bikes burn between .62and .72 per lap !! ok depending on where we are! Osch in germany was .62 per lap and Magny cours is .72 !!!

DD bikes burn a bit less I hope

Oh our typical fuel cost for a race weekend is around £3500

so yes dd should be cheaper

After picking myself off the floor from reading Age's numbers...

I'd concur with AK's figures.
Except I burned near on 20 litres at a dry Donny trackday last year!
The only track I've measured consumption was Brands. That's probably the most fuel friendly circuit we've done, and it came out as 32mpg.
The norm for me is to take a 20l can full - approx half goes in the bike and the rest goes in the car (when I used the car for race transport).

I work on about 2 litres for qualifying and 3 litres per race on average, so about 8 litres for a day.

I would say ak is about spot on for the dd bike. But the paddock bike uses about 3 times as much:D :D

I came home with a full jerry can of fuel from Cadders last weekend as my bike only used one 3/4 tank of fuel in qualifying, couple laps of first race and full second race. Mind you, the fuel tank is empty now!!!

Reserve is 3 litres and I found out you can do a race even if your reserve light comes on during the first lap

Sure is, at snetterton.
I had a lap or two where I thought  but mostly kept the throttle as open as poss cos I was duelling with mikeW, and I still had some left at the end.

Yep, I found out the same at Cadders. Race 1 the light came on half way down Park Straight on lap 1. Kept going but tried not to rev it as high. Got to the end without a splutter but don't think I had the required 2 litres left at the end!

Exactly !
I like the idea of emptying the tank after a race and then only putting in the minimum you need, but can never be bothered.
I generally put a bit in for luck since I ran out at oulton on the last-but-one-lap earlier in the year, 'luckily' along the pit straight so I could coast round to the pit-return lane :D

I'd like to do that actually, so this winter I'll find the right tap :)

It wasn't by design Phil!
I filled the tank to the top on saturday morning and knew it'd last 4 sessions. Just forgot to top it up again for session 5 :o
