Also what sort of prices is an average 'punter' looking at these days for a few days / week in the isle.

too late Frank, hotels have been booked since before easter & ferries are all booked up.

Not too late yet.
There are always those that book in advance and cannot make it for one reason or another.The bookings wont be confirmed untill around next February.(When the Steam Packet knows the sailing times)
Start searching then.
