Well I saw it today sitting in its new collection :o

There's a model shop I know and the owner is a keen Minichamps seller and collector. He has one of every Minichamps bike ever made - he always kept one for himself :biaggi:

Anyway, I'm browsing his display cabinets pointing out the rare '99 Corser to my Mum and there next to it is the mystery blue/black Foggy that Jasper bought! I couldn't believe it, so I collared the owner for a chat and here's the story...

The bike is the original and very first hand sample of any bike model from the Minichamps company. The first bikes they made were the '99 Foggys and Corsers as we know, and Jasper's model was the original sample. Number one. One of a kind.

The model was stolen from Minichamps by an employee who left them, and it subsequently ended up on eBay courtesy of the employee's wife/girlfriend. That's when I spotted it and started this thread:

Then Jasper bought it, and subsequently eBayed it again:

Jasper's buyer (the shop owner I know) contacted Minichamps who told him the whole story, and he now has this documented for his collection. Initially Minichamps wanted it back which is why it was very cloak and dagger. They're now happy that they know where it is and that it sits with one of their retailers in his private collection.

Cool huh?

Yeah, they seem to have been a bit more open with "one of their own" :(

Wonder what it would fetch today with all the documentation, and you nearly decided to hang onto it Jasp, my shares in it could have given a good return :)

Bet it would fetch £1000.Why they wouldn't help me in the first place,i don't know.Anyway, the money helped me buy a Bayliss and Bostrom 2000,which i would never have been able to afford.
