First in series of pics showing the delights and pitfalls of owning and running a grey import.

Pic 1 showing the proud owner of a GReg NC30 clad in rather fetching red coveralls with Haynes manual grasped tightly in her left hand whilst wiping away a speck of dust from her new steed.

I am sure you will all subscribe to this thread and not wish to miss the continuing pictorial saga of the blonde landlady with the monkey wrench.

Very interesting to see a Triton there as well, even if it is still registered as a 1954 Norton 650, but at least its on the road.
Very nice looking blasting cabinet and spraygun too :)

I've seen that bike before.
Luckily Honda did officially import the NC30 model into this country so bits should be obtainable through official dealers and failing those the likes of Dave Silver Spares or those specialising in imports like Elliots.

I have a 12.8mb parts manual in PDF I can email if your interested

This is what you get when you let a blonde bimbo in a red coverall loose on a previously road worthy NC30!!

And to add insult to injury she leaves the Haynes manual propped up on the depleted remains of a once cherished motorcycle.

Do please tell us a bit more about the Triton.

I built one on a wideline frame, put in a fairly trick motor for its day; 6T bottom end with the T120 Bonneville barrels, Splayed head with central plugs, high comp pistons, E3134 cams and a K2FC magneto, ran on 2 big Amal Monobloc carbs.

Thinking back I reckon our rear tyres were about the same width as the fronts on most modern sports bikes and the profiles were far from ideal. Maybe some of you other "old boys" will remember the Avon "Trigonic" tyres ?

This was last winters project. Had promised myself since 1978 that i would build one after i turned one down for £160.
Most of the bits are from auto jumbles , ebay and hunting down. The motor is a 650 tr6 in standard trim. As i wanted to run standard for a while before i start to do any work on the motor. It runs ok has led the Surrey bimble run. is great run to ride. The onle things i didn't do on it as i farmed it out, were lacing the rims and paintwork.
Have built a dozen or so bikes over the years , but this one is for me to keep. Normally i get fed up and sell it after a while of use.One of the other interesting ones i built was a tuned xbr500 lump in a tzr125 deltabox frame, but that is another tale.

Be interested to hear what you do to the motor if you decide to "breathe" on it a bit ! I've got a couple of spare kickstart return springs knocking about somewhere if you ever break yours, they did seem a bit prone to breaking. We also devised a method of stopping the pushrod tubes from leaking oil. I know of the whereabouts of a Triton and once I've made space in the garage by selling the ST2 it could well be in there as a winter project.

No deffinate plans at the moment. Othere things on the go , house in Germany/ overseeing Kim's NC30. Plus all else that life serves up.
Will probably stay 650 as 750's are a bit too vibey. May well stay with a single carb as the midrange is allways better on a sinle carb as oppossed to twin. cams pistons and porting will more than likely be the 1st stage. We'll see in the coming years. Want to keep her rideable and reliable.:D

Back end bits cleaned. Rear wheel masked up and middle bit (spokey lookin bit) now sprayed with primer. Swing arm (the bit under the seat?? I think thats what its called) also primered. I need to ask my Workshop Manager if he will actually spray the paint on as I was a bit nervous with the primer. Pretty please :)

New chain and sprockets gotta go on. When the rear wheel is back on then it's upto the front end. I have gotta chat to one of my clients really nicely and see what deal he'll do to spray my fairing etc.....

Coming along slowly but surely. My overalls are now no longer spotless red. My knees are sore grappling about on the floor. My nails are broken and have oil under them (even tho i haved scrubbed them till they go red)!

BUT it's gonna look good when it's finished. :D
