petrol tap

hi, bit of a strange one but on opening the petrol tap screw ,if i open to far it leaks, is this normal or is it broken ?
wish they had a better tap.

cheers, will have a look at it.
mine still works its just that it unscrews all the way and fuel pours out ,pretty sure this aint right.
