I get lost in your eyes
That contain the skies
Filled with so much expression
Colored with such beautiful dyes

In your eyes I see the stars
The dreams to change the world
The hope so bright
The twinkling light

Some great pictures there chaps. My favourites at the moment are 4D's, particularly the seascape with the Gaff Ketch in the foreground and Gizmo's picture of Ullswater.

Perhaps I'm biased in favour of seascapes, but I do love boats and enjoy sailing.

I'll search through my alBUMS to see if I have a sunset picture, BUT will a picture of a FULL MOON (see my Avatar) suffice for now? ;)

I have lived near Poole for most of my life and used to really think that the rural views where tops. But since my brother in law has built a waterside house, looking out over Poole harbour and the Purbecks, I have come around to your point of view. I call it water front TV. From before dawn to dark, it's a contsantly changing vista. Tad expensive monthly subscription, though!£!"£$"

Shaun, with out picking on your particular pictures most of the sunsets shown here are only half a picture with the forground either blacked out due to exposure problems. Not wanting to teach any one to suck eggs what you see with your eye is not what the camera see's, so often an ajustment needs to be made. One way is to lower the camera and exclude to brighness of the sky this will give the fore ground a chance of being better exposed, holding the shutter button halfway then bring the camers back up and take the shot. All way's take more than one shot, exposing the fore ground and distance in the same way. I will admit you can't do this with a mobile phone or take shoot throw away camera's, but most reasonable camera's have this facility. Another aid to good sunset pictures is really a tripod and longer exposures, but as this is not all way practical especially when thundering across deserts and mountains on a bike . One thing to try is take the camera out of Auto mode and use Manual you will see when using a digi camera the instant results through the len as you troll through the various settings of apretures and shutter speeds. 4D

Yeah, you should listen to Fordie about photographic composition you know. After all, he managed to take this picture of the bridge in Bedford.

How the hell he managed to do that without getting abandoned shopping trolley's, people fighting on the embankment, blokes barfing over the bridge and ladettes throwing themselves into the water in the shot I'll never know.

Jools, thanks for the comments, BUT when I took the shot on a exposure of about 6 sec at f22 a bloke in a single skull rowed across the river in front of me right across the picture,You can even see where he dipped his oars in on each stroke If you look just under the bridge you can see a faint streeking on the water where he rowed by,that's how to take pictures in crowded places , unless the subject is stationary if won't come out on film.

Yeah i'm just looking at it. In mine the tripod leg is just visible in the left hand corner as a friend was stood beside me taking a shot too.

Looking at the clouds and sea weed in the water it does indeed look like the same picture taken a few moments apart. Perhaps your phantom tripod owner took it and published it. 4D

yeah it's really odd isn't it? did mine have a tripod leg in it? I see the 2nd o ne is just moved over slightly then, how bizarre, did you friend put it anywhere then if you didn't?

I got it I think from astonomy of the Day, if i didn't i can't think where i would, but it's the only site i go on that i would 'nik' a photo. sorry.. :( Perhaps you should ask your friend too what happened?

Yours would have yes cos it was cropped. Not that it matters, just curious as to how it ended up somewhere that i've never sent it to. The origianl is 1.74 megs, as were all those taken that day.
As to tripod owner - well different camera, settings etc, who knows. I was just stood taking them as the sun changed the colours, hence the skewed horizons ;)

Hi Rob,

I know what you mean about living by the sea, like anywhere else though it has its benefits and disadvantages, luckily the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages. :)

Unfortunately I'm not lucky enough to have a sea view, they cost an arm and a leg plus several Ducatis, however the beach is only a 10 minutes walk away or about half a mile.

Your brother-in-law is a very fortunate to have those views.

You're right, the sea views are like a constantly changing picture, from a serene, tranquil and calm mill pond to a rough, raging and aggressive seas.

Apparently Sandbanks is one of the most expensive places to buy a property in the UK, hopefully a big Lotto win may sort that out :D

Take care mate,
RD

This photo was taken during 2003 by me on a family tour around Australia.
I took so many rolls of film during our trip I'm not 100% sure of the location, but I have a good idea it is Lakes Entrance, Victoria, Australia.
Yeah I still use a Canon 35mm SLR, the original photo is very good but the scanned copy has washed all the colour out, it looks shite compared to the original.
