Ok i'm a little confused...
got a biposto 749s and want to use an original ducati mono seat unit but retain the bip subframe... is this possible?
i'm sure i've seen it done
The seat unit will fit but there will be about 6 inches of subframe sticking out the back which will look stupid. You could cut it off as I have seen before but then the biposto seat unit will not fit.
You need a Mono subframe.

ok cool thanks for that, it all makes sense now... those subframes aint cheap!
not just that tho, i wanna be able to swap the seat unit from mono to bip without too much fuss... maybe a desmosidicci style unit is the way to go.
hmmmmmm
anyways thanks again
One of these is what you want, good quality, great prices and it will fit your biposto subframe i believe.

I've got one on my 749bp. Holes lined up fine, quick job to fit. Does the job.
