996 Clutch Picture - Question for the experts

This is a picture of my clutch as it is at the moment (you are aware of the issues i'm having). My question is - does it look like the last friction plate is too close to the end of the basket or is that the norm?

Does anyone else have a picture of theirs?

Thanks Kev, you obviously think that it looks too close to the edge. However according to the Haynes manual for the 996 the steel plates are 2.0mm thick and not 1.5mm. this gives a stack height of 38.5mm, which mine is.

I have purchased a couple of 1.5mm plates though which I intend to pop in to move the end plate back a bit to stop it popping off.

If indeed it is too close to the edge with the correct stack height, something must be causing it, but I can't work out what it could be :-/

I haven;t looked at the Haynes manual for a 748/916/996 as I have originals, I do know they have the wrong figure for the clutches in a 620 Sport
there are often mistakes in the Haynes books

Ah right Oh. I'll take a look in my pucker Ducati manual.

A new clutch should only require the two 2mm steels at the back, the rest should be 1.5mm and substituted one or two at a time for 2mm steels as the clutch wears

I got a couple of 1.5mm plates from Baines Racing (who were very helpful) and fitted them. Now all is good :-)

nice one, it doesn't take a lot to upset a Ducati dry clutch

also reminds me I need to pop up to Silverstone and get my Brembo radial m/cyl repaired after my off at Snetterton
