View Full Version : Settle a wee 'dispute' for me? (between me & my puter for directions)
Heading sarf, would you go:
A303, A358 & pick up the M5 at Taunton
or
A303, A30 & then pick up the M5 just by Exeter
I'd prefer the former, as I use that route - but Route planner is arguing & says the latter route:confused:
your thoughts?
if you are going right down as far as Exeter or further then A303 then A30 past Honiton if its Taunton then you need to turn right after the Ilminster Bypass.
Cheers - we often use the A303 & then A358 to hook up at Taunton onto the M5 to then whizz off onto the North Devon link rd - but I also use this route when shooting down to Devon County show each june, as found it quicker than the A30.
Will bow to your knowledge & give the A30 a try tomorrow then YFMB.
Moggers - am doing a invasion of Torquay:D
If you fancy a pit stop in Sunny Honiton Ck,let me know,Nice Boston tea party in town..lovely chocolate cake..

M5 at Taunton. My parents live at Tiverton and this is my prefered route.
M25 , M1 NORTH, M6 North, M5 South all the way down to the bottom!
Only 3 turnsof the bars that way !

A303, A358 & pick up the M5 at Taunton is the best way CK as the old A30 is not the best road !
I have heard a rumor of the new speed cameras on the M5 between junctions 29 and 31, its the new cameras that time your speed over a mile I think !
Anyway CK give us a shout if your down this way

One or the other :D
you can shut up Mr 'sat nav man':p :D
Is your mrs going to read the map for you if I confiscate the sat nav? :saint;
OK, having checked, its about 8 miles longer to pick up the M5 at Taun'on, but prefer that way.
Age, will try & give you a call mate - but we aint on the bikes this time:(

I always go A303/A30, but then, I'm not a big motorway fan. The A30 has been improved quite a bit lately, although there's still a few 2-lane possible bottlenecks, but the traffic usually moves along OK.

Ok Ck if you have time give us a bell !
Camera update the new cameras are up between 29 and 31 in both directions, 2 sets each way are on the over head gantries but beware there is a 3rd set each way on over head poles after main cameras. They were not working when I went through but they will be anytime soon.
Age

How dare you question your better half, just do as your told!
Yea Yea I know!
I actually prefer the M25, M26, M20, M2, M25, M1, M6, M42 and M5 route as it provides a nice balance and you get to see a lot of the country as well.
