can someone tell me what the difference is between a 748bip and a 748s ?

From what I know the 748s has the showa shock instead of Sachs and titanium nitrided forks.

Five spoke brembo made Marachesinis?

Adjutable head stock on the frame, and discs with lighter alloy carriers.

It also had a 'titanuim' grey paint job with red wheels avaliable.

this has confused me as well according to all the paperwork for my bike i have a 748 bip but the sticker on the frame says 748 s ??? (it's got showa forks and shock but 3 spoke not 5 spoke wheels )

The "real" S models were made from 2000 onwards, so don't go by what your frame sticker says.

The easiest way to tell is by the components it's got, as Lee says:

5 Spoke Grey Marchesinis
Grey Frame
Adjustable Steering Angle
Showa Shock and TiN Front Forks

It was available in Red, Yellow and the limited edition "S" only grey, like Lee's.

Year 2000 bikes (like mine) didn't have S on the fairing, but the later ones did. This is the same point that the "Bip" became the "E" to make the range E, S and R.

mine has the "748s" sticker on the frame, is a 99` model in yellow and has a showa rear shock...so is it a bip or an E ?
hmm....confusing !:(

It's a Bip. There was no "S" until 2000.
Previously it was Biposto, SP or SPS.
The frame sticker doesn't mean anything.

thought 'S' could be a bip as it was just the seat numbers (ie 2 - monposto 1)

Yes, you're right of course about the incorrect use of the term "Biposto" and "Monoposto" meaning twin and single seats rather than the type of bike.

Pre-2000 the 748 came in Biposto (standard), SP and SPS flavours.

From 2000, the 748 came as E, S and R variants. The E was the Bip replacement, with the S and R having different levels of extras on them.
