1995 900ss Cuts out!

Hi,
Does anyone have any ideas on this issue??
I just got back from a ride on my '95 900ss (carby) and during which the engine cut out twice.
On both ocassions it spluttered as if running out of fuel and after leaving it 5 mins would run again with no issues.
Also the oil temp was at 125ish which is way above normal. Could it be a temp cut out switch? This would then raise the question as to why the temp is so high.

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter? It may be this getting blocked, and it needs to sit for a while for the crap to "settle" and allow fuel to flow again.

Also, have you checked the tank breather? If it's blocked then you can get vacuum lock inside the tank which would stop fuel from flowing until the pressure can stabilise again and allow fuel to flow.

As for the engine running hot, that may be a different problem. Is the oil cooler working properly and do you have enough oil in the engine?
