A story I hope you may draw inspiration from, should you encounter a similar situation.

Several months ago I received notice in the post that I would be prosecuted, having been caught on a speed camera doing 48 in a 30 zone. I didn't remember seeing a flash, but did know where the camera was located, and on reflection felt there were mitigating circumstances. I decided not to take the fixed penalty so opted for the court option.

To cut a long story short. I did plead guilty, but argued that I had taken evasive action to avoid a threat to my safety which could not be seen by the speed camera.

The magistrates accepted my arguments, which by the way were not contested by the prosecuting solicitor to my amazement.

Result - no fine and no points!!!!!!!!!!

Moral of story. Speed cameras don't lie, but they can't show what they can't see. ;););););)

Must post a piccie, but for anyone in the north west area, there's a speed camera on a nifty little single road through Preston Brook - just at t'other side of daresbury near warrington.
Said camera is now sporting a rather delectable shade of 'char' from a somewhat close encounter with a combustible material or fuel.
Laugh? I had to stop and chuckle:lol::lol::lol::lol:

That poor camera gets torched each fortnight after every repair. Its facing on a downhill and is hardly near a school. Deserves all the torching it gets in my eyes.
Where you from guest1 ??

I love some of your suggestions as to what the "Threat" was.

In fact it was a group of young boys who I thought were throwing objects in my direction. I also felt that it was useful to explain to the magistrate that just a small tweak on the throttle of a modern performance bike ( well after a 600 bandit an ST2 is a performance bike) results in quite a high speed in a short distance. You can't assume that they know these things.

It is also a good idea to wear a tie in court rather than leathers, take a strong dose of sincerity pills, be humble but try to sound professional, maintain eye contact, and dont smile or do outlandish "yeah" gestures when they decide not to endorse or fine you.
Good luck.
