916, 99*, 748 wheels on a multistrada ??

Is it possible to use 916 wheels on a multistrada ?

Can I keep the same front and rear calipers ?

Do I need spacers or different hubs etc for the front or rear ?

Do you forsee any other problems ?

So far what I have read is that the rear wheel fits fine, but the front needs a spacer to align the disc/rotor to the calipers.

My primary reason for asking is so that I can use normal disc carrier and floating disks in the attempt to get rid of the brake shudder.
Perhaps also if the wheel is lighter it will make a difference as the unsprung weight would be different.

My Ducati dealer seems impotent or unwilling to fix the problem - I'm getting fed up of it. :|

Yes, you can use the 916 series wheels on a Multistrada. But...

You'll need a new front axle tube, spacer and a new pair of 'standard' discs to replace the spoke-mounted ones fitted as OE.

All the parts are available off the shelf.

I'm sure I read that the Multistrada wheels are lighter than the 999 wheels anyway.
I've had my Multi for nearly a year & 6500 miles, & I only felt the brake shudder once, & that was at about 2 mph while parking it. it's strange why some people suffer this & some don't.

yes, the above posts are correct, I was thinking of keeping my Marchesinis but when isaw the weight advantage against my the standard, I thought why bother? A spacer is needed for the front.
But in saying that....... the brake judder can be cured, Ducati have released another compound of brake pad, - by the look of it and the fact that some people get it and some don't it must be down to how the brakes are bedded in in the first place. I believe the general consensous is that it is best not to be too careful with the front brake, - and brake hard from time to time to stop the glaze.

sorry Tim they went with the 916 in the end... :( They will be at the track day though, - Andy who bought the bike is going I think.
