MXGP of China
Good starts and a top 10 for Mattia Guadagnini in China
The penultimate round of the 2025 FIM Motocross World Championship took place today at the Shanghai International Offroad Circuit, just a few kilometres from China's economic capital. The track, set up on China's east coast, in the easternmost part of the Yangtze River Delta, withstood the impact of heavy rain that fell on the area during the night between Saturday and Sunday and gradually dried out during a hot late-summer day in Asia.
Having qualified 15th and 19th in Saturday’s race, the Aruba.it - Ducati Factory MX Team riders lined up for the first race and both got off to a strong start, with Jeremy Seewer in 10th and Mattia Guadagnini in 12th. Both rode a solid race with consistent lap times, taking the chequered flag after 17 laps in eleventh and thirteenth place.
Mattia got off to a better launch in the second moto, running seventh after the first lap. Jeremy, blameless, was involved in a crash just a few metres into the race, which irreparably damaged his #91 Desmo450 MX machine and forced him to retire. Battling the stifling heat and still not fully fit, Guadagnini finished the final race of the day in 10th, securing 11th overall in the Chinese Grand Prix.
The Aruba.it - Ducati Factory MX Team will now head to Darwin with their Desmo450 MX machines locked in their flight cases to tackle the Australian Grand Prix, the final race of the season.
Mattia Guadagnini: “It was definitely a better weekend. I wanted to bring home something good, and to a certain extent, I succeeded. Yesterday was a so-so day for me, where I didn't perform at my best. Today, however, I had a decent start in race one. I lost a couple of positions on the first lap, but I managed to find my rhythm and hold on until the end. In race two, I had a better start. I lost a few positions again, but I rode better. I tired less than in the first, and I finished in a solid tenth place. I finally managed to put together two decent races, and now I want to take another step in Australia.”
Jeremy Seewer: “There's not much to say. Actually, I had two great starts today - really, really good from outside. First moto, I did what I could with an 11th. Then in the second, it could have been similar, but I was simply unlucky at the start and a crash seriously damaged my bike, and my race was over after a few meters.”
