My 998S has developed a stutter between 2.5k & 5K rpm

Happens on open & constant throttle - okay before & after....

All electrical system short of replacing the loom has been checked - all fine

Just had a 12k service etc

Bit gutted as can't take to Park Algar now as needs to be dropped off on Sunday

Any ideas.......

Thx in advance

Had a the same on mine at Portimao. Removed one of the shims from the ign pick up sensor. All ok after that. ;)

Just read your original post again. Mine was totally cutting out, then cutting in again. Sounds different to the problems you are having, sorry :(

TP - I have!!

I thought you just rented one. Or have you bought one, that's what I meant.

I'm really leaning that way now and getting a lot closer to being in a position to getting one hopefully. Watch this space over the next few months!

Ahh ok, well that's a good idea I suppose. I'd just buy one but then I've ridden one before so I know what I want. You'll probably just want one.

And hopefully I'll have mine by the end of August! And race it next year, fingers crossed.

Oh, if I do get it before the next No Limits trip to Portimao I'll be well up for that!

Andyb - in your dreams - that is one sweet bike (okay without the stutter....) - I'll let you have the STM evo 48t slipper & 54m ti system for 3k.....& only if you're nice......

Had a similar problem on 996 last year and finally tracked it down to a split in the rubber fuel line directly after the pump. This means going into the tank but you can combine it with a fuel filter change which is how I found the problem.

Hope this helps.

wouldnt fuel filter chnage be part of a 12k service? in which case maybe moving things made it worse

Good suggestion! This reminds me of a chat I had with Ducati John the other week as he was sorting a 996 or similar with just that problem at the time. Apparently it is quite common and is only a 20 minute job to fix.
