View Full Version : Running on One Cylinder?

Started the old girl up this morning ('99 SPS) and she would only run on one?!

Took her down the road for a couple of miles - refused to go over 6,500 rpm and still on one cylinder for most of the time.

Went home, lifted the seat unit, waggled the connections to the ECU, left her to sit for a couple of minutes and she started on two running sweet as a nut...

I wonder whether: -
a) I wet a plug, as it took about 6 or 7 goes to get here started initially
or
b) there's another dodgy connection in the spaghetti that is Ducati wiring?

Anyone else had this problem?
Cheers

not on my 748 but have with the 749 so all I did was change the plugs and she's like a new one again might be cos its just been sat and I have been going out and warming it up through winter to get the oil round but not getting my leg over it and taking the girl out. she'll be seeing the red pretty soon after my holiday

I had a similar failure. Put new plugs in and she was fine.

I had a similar problem with annettes sps, either side of the ecu are ignition amplifiers and on one of the amplifiers the plug was loose. I have heard of other people with the same fault so I would check this first. (the multi plug on the amplifier has a spring wire clip on it I would remove both plugs and then refit them to be sure)
