Hello
I have just bought a Regina 94 link chain.
and was thinking about sprockets.
At present on my 748 I have a 14 tooth on the front and 38 on the rear (sprocket carrier)
But as the bike is now an 853 would you suggest keeping this setup?
I understand you can swap and change, but I just need a starting point
as I intend to look into this in more detail at a later date.
2 and a bit weeks to build my bike :( :)
regards

Got 14/39 on my 916SPS so I'm sure things will be great on your 853.
Enjoy!

Steve if you make it to Benson I could bring some sprockets along for you to try

The 916SPS has a different primary gear ratio than the 748 so the above sprocket suggestion is inappropriate.
For 853's I recommend a 15/38, 96-link setup.
(Don't forget to measure your rear ride height first so you can reset it.)

Hello Shazaam
Dam'it I knew it would be a different chain link,
Nelly is running 15/38 if I am right.
Ok I will see if I can get back to 96 links
Thanks Shazaam

Probably 525 size and Steve's new chain is 520
The smallest renthal quick change sprocket I have in 520 is a 37T
I have a brand new 520 alloy AFAM 35T, its the type you have to fit the cush drives into
14/35 would be nigh on the same as 15/38 but without te need for the longer chain £30 to you if your interested

The AFAM is just like this one only his is cheaper so if its a 520 it may be worth a bid

I have a gearing spreadsheet which may help you decide which way to go. PM me an e-mail address and I'll send you a copy.
Incidently max speed at 11 000 rpm should be 156mph on std 748 gearing, about right for track, maybe not so good for the road.

Andy

Hello Skids
I take it this setup would be standard ie (orignal sprocket/ crush drives)
As I did not really want to go this route unless need be.
I don't know  will need to have a think

steve, investing in a quick change carrier is worth it if you are buying a new sprocket anyway, cheaper and better in the long run. I had a talon carrier which was far cheaper than a renthal one and the sprockets are 325 not £145 like std!! no chnage to the cush drives
