More HD help needed!!

So,having got my reasonably cheap HDMI cable,I have a problem!! I don't know if it is cable,dvd or tv!!Help please.

TV:LG 42" 1080i
DVD: Brand New LG 503 1080P upscaling dvd.

dvd connected to tv via scart and HDMI(£9.99 Wharefdale from Argos)

When I change the DVD output from 570p to either 760P,1080i or 1080P,

the picture on the Scart is perfect,the picture on the HDMI has lots of random flashing white pixels,like it is snowing(!!

If i drop the output back to anything less than 760p,then the HDMI ouput is ok.

So do itake the cable back(which is my initial thought) or is it a setting problem?

Not positive but do you need to have both the scart and HDMI cables connected to the tv, I would suggest just trying the HDMI cable as you may be getting a conflicting signal? worth a try!:rolleyes:

i mentioned before about cheap HDMI cables. most will struggle with 1080P but i've never seen a cheap cable struggle with 1080i.

it's got to be easier all round to exchange/upgrade/buy a better quality HDMI cable then it'll be a case of pestering friends to borrow DVD players and try them out with your set.

oh, and if the TV doesn't do 1080P then don't send it a 1080p signal. only tell DVD to output highest resolution the screen can display.

Well this was sorted.And the answer was:the bloody cheap cable!! Replaced it with another(£20,so not outrageous) and hey presto-perfection.

Its not the cost of the cable that denotes p/i compatibility, it should state on the label or write up whether the cable is for p or i use.

You can buy £3 worth of "i" cable or you can buy £3 worth of "p" cable.

Like I said in a previous post, because the cable deals in digital it will either work or it won't work........yours didn't and should have been replaced for you.
