Look, I've got to do the Bike mag used buyer's guide for the month-after-next on Duke 748s.

I'm fairly well genned up on them, and I've ridden a couple myself (I like 'em, but then I always preferred medium-sized twins to really big twins), but what we like to include is owner feedback. What breaks, what doesn't, service costs, consumables life, what drives you mad, etc. Not "Wottlitdo?" and "Owzitandle?" but real life stuff.

Anyone fancy their two penn'orth? If so, it's only a few paras needed. Need to know model and whether it was bought new or used, and owner's name, agge and occupation, although this can be (and frequently is) munged to preserve privacy.

If anyone's up for it I can be contacted at chateau-dot-murray-at-dsl-dot-pipex-dot-com

Let battle commence....

Thanks, folks!

Trouble with these Ducati ones is that the "What goes wrong?" and "What to check!" sections tend to go on for pages and pages. ;)

Out of interest, what's the highest mileage 748 n(or 916, come to that?) that anyone knows of? When I say I've done 24,000 miles on my 750SS, people find it hard to believe.....

Neil,

Didn't Alan McFrame have some stupid mileage on his 748bip - like 30K+ or something? Might be worth dropping him an email...

Obviously, that's *relatively* stupid high mileage as we're talking about Ducatis :D

I've done 35500 miles on my 748, bought new in Jan 2002. I use it nearly every day (obviously:)), and it's been very good, really. I have just had a new (2nd-hand) rectifier, and replaced the ignition switch and a sensor a while back, but overall it's been very reliable.
