I'm sure this is probably a bit of an overdone question but here goes anyway.

I've just bought a 748 very nice condition 1999 Biposto.

The front tyre is a 60 section BT014 and the rear a new BT016.

I want to get a new front BT016 to match the rear. Should i put a 70 section front on in place of the 60 section. I realise the 60 is the std fitment but it does feel a bit strange to me. Will a 70 section feel a bit more planted?

Cheers for any help.

Owned acouple of 748s and raced and trackday'd them and always with a 70 section tyre, when ever I have tried a 60 profile they just feel as though they are going to tuck under on you

70, as skids said, 60 felt like it was going to tuck under.

incidentally, i'v just bunged on some (really old) tyres i had kicking around from the despatching era.....namely a d220 180/55 and a front dunlop sportsmax 120/60 (state of the art tech, circa 1992!)
I know - horrible, but i've got some d211's on the way and i'm saving them for trackday at beginning of may.....

so - 60 profile on the front.......ultra rapid steering compared to utterly knacked d209's....and i've got within 5mm of the edge of back tyre without any hint of squirrellyness on the first excursion. Bizzarre. I'd have expected them to start misbehaving and be generally vile, but so far so good.

incidentally, the VFR800's have these old tyres on from brand new!
