Careful, the 996RS airbox will only work with a Foggy Rep Frame with the lower cross member or a 748R / 998 late frame with a 996 engine.

You will also have issues with needing the seat undertray breather instead of the standard one, as well as fuel supply & Return line fittings as per Corse specs (as those are in the airbox on 996RS and won't fit a with a standard tank).

You will also need the bigger airtubes.... and those in turn require the nose cone with the bigger air intakes.

So all together it is not as simple as it seems.

You are better just getting an EVR airbox which will offer the bigger volume without the complication.

ahhh thanks i was working off what brook henry had said that the 996rs airbox would fit straight into the 996sps and give more mid range. so its not so easy then??

it should fit if it's a proper 996sps frame.

There's heaps of different rs airbox versions around. So you might want to buy a full setup along with the tubes.

As for more midrange, don't you think the 600-1000 euros for this mod are better spent on headwork or light wheels?

On a sidenote: if you really want a large airbox, get a 748r unit. Maybe minus the shower injection. It's large, it's plug and play, and it's affordable.

oh its a proper 996 sps no 682. i didnt want to do any engine work on it thats not reversable so when i come to sell it if ever its easily put back to standard.thats why i was keen on the rs airbox mod but if theres to much work involved il leave her standard.

As far as I know, 996 SPS except the 996 SPS Foggy Rep do not have the lower cross member. Even the 2000 996 SPS which came after the foggy rep had the standard (higher) cross member which means that a genuine 996RS airbox would not fit.

The 916 R airbox would be an easier fit but it is not that much bigger.

Also I forgot to mention that RS airbox have a piece thatyou add on to the front of the aribox. Typically this conflicts with the support for the ingition barrel.... This is only really designed to to work with race frames.

You may go for a 748 R airbox of an EVR.

Look into EVR. They supply higer capacity airboxes that fit both types of frames. Those are very much plug and play and are supposed to increase performance.
