I am quite interested though need to confirm the fitting.
I have 996RS tank on the 996, which has 2 bits bolted on front of the tank that slot in hoops in the frame. I don't believe that this will sort out this fitting. Please let me know if you know any better.
I have also 998RS tank on the 998 which has the quick release fittings but those are really completely useless. Do you know if those can replace those?

these are strictly 916R, the 996RS were different. And the 998RS and F bikes then again were different.
Let me show you some schematics and pics from my old post at Ducati.ms:

The 998 RS has the mounting hardware in the front.

Yours appears to be a 2000 996 RS unit, could that be?

Yeah typical, I have a flavour of the 2 other ones...
I which I could manage to adapt the 916 R fittings instead of the 996 RS ones described here which are absolutely rubbish.
