Guys,

I have been able to finalise the last items this morning and as such I can announce the planned calendar for the 2010 season:

April 2-5th Brands Hatch - BSB meeting

April 25th Silverstone

May 8-9th Anglesey

May 31st Mallory

July 17-18th Snetterton

August 21-22nd Pembrey

September 11th Castle Combe

October 2-3rd Cadwell Park

I will confirm which day we will be racing at Brands Hatch in the near future, for the time being please work on the basis that our two races will be on Sunday 4th April and practise on the Saturday.

The new Ducati 848 Challenge series will be in attendance at a number of these round, please see a seperate announcement.

The Dutch Club will be at the Silverstone round, most likely with two grids - so this will be a real Ducati festival.

You are of course entitled to your view, but access to Assen is not a given for Desmo Due. Over the years discussions with the Dutch Club have been fruitful, but they want a spectacle that will bring in paying spectators.

Given that the 848 series format has been put forward as the basis of a Ducati Northern Europe formula, then it is important that it is showcased at that event.

My thoughts exactly. I bet there isn't 35 on the grid either.

But they haven't had sessions Red flagged for excessive noise or left baffles and coke cans etc strewn all of the track or ignored black flags YET, Add that little lot on top of a couple of years of less than full grids and I for one am not suprised we're not top of their Guest list
Then there was last years complete lack of interest in committing to the event by the cut off date as the numbers amounted to less than half a grid.

Still Brands will be nice with or without BSB as I didn't think we would be there this year and its been a while since I raced at Silverstone especially without the Micky Mouse chicane.

My understanding is that as Moto GP is going there, one of the many changes included removing the big old Grandstand on the outside of Woodcote and building a smaller one futher back so enabling there to be more run-off and allow them to do away with the chicane and also create a new pit lane entrance.

Now that they have secured the Formula 1 for another 17 years there may be a few more changes being planned, maybe the new grandstand will be a bit bigger/grander than planned, but still futher back as the F1 cars will find the extra run-off usefull as well as an improved pit lane entrance

And just as a small commment on the side.

I'm not sure that people realise how spoiled they are with circuits in this country. Considering the size of the UK, we are absolutely RAMMED with great tracks, and always have a great choice each year.

As an example, if you race in America, the geography of the place (It's huge) often dictates that you race with a single club, usually with no more than 3 tracks to choose from (unles you do AMA). I raced at Willow Springs, and their championship is held at one track...you guessed it...Willow Springs.

We are REALLY lucky. :)

Just a quick update:

I have now had a couple of calls regarding the Brands Hatch BSB round and the possibility of TV coverage.

This has not been requested by myself off the organisers, so far. We are due to meet in January to finalise arangements and I will put it on the table.

For the timebeing please assume that there will be no TV coverage of our races.

That's going to be a baptism of fire for a first timer like me! It's pressure enough having the place full of British Superbike elite and massive crowds, it's probably for the best if it's not on TV as well!

Word...bitches...

From me...1000 miles to Eastern Creek, 700 miles to Phillip Island: my local, Mallala (like Snetterton) 50 miles away.

You guys have 3 local GP/WSB tracks, and Oulton, Cadwell, Snet, etc..

EXCELLENT WORK CHRIS.

So now we know Assen is just not going to happen how about an alternative?

I've already discussed this with Chris a couple of weeks ago, and we had an idea about a suitable replacement for Assen. Hopefully Chris will be following up on this to see if it can be done.

Don't forget that as a UK race club, it's a whole world of hassle to get a grid overseas; there's enough red-tape as it is in racing in the UK, let alone trying to get grid space, for what is essentially a novice series, on someone else's patch who may well have different rules. These things don't happen easily and they certainly don't happen overnight! BUT it is being looked at so fingers crossed something will happen.

In the mean time, look at the great series that you have got already, look at the great venues that have been confirmed and think yourselves lucky. You only have to compare it to most other classes in "ordinary" race clubs to see just how exceptional racing in DD can be, and I think some people take that for granted.

As another example. Preston DMC run their series at the 3 sisters, Darley Moor and Aintree. These are tiny tracks compared to the DD calender. Ok i did want Oulton in the list but to be at Brands and Silverstone for me being new is fantastic news.

I should imagine it is difficult in a normal year to try and get slots organised at meetings before someone decided to wreak havoc by digging up Donnington and the following fiasco of F1 or no F1 at Silverstone.

I see the track day guys are starting to publish dates so better try and get some practice in at Brands I think.

You are very lucky racers getting on the same card as BSB, well done Chris. Even if you have to wait all day and half the crowd have gone home, it will still be a big day and you will get to watch the races as well. Suspect you'll be in the outer paddock, but wonder if you will have pitlane passes as usual so you can get close up?

I recall racing at Castle Coombe with BSB riders there and a big crowd -what a difference, it was brilliant to have so many people watching.

If you do go out before them, make sure your sump plug etc is tight:lol:

Charlie you have been around racing long enough just like me to know that at this time of year most race calendars are provisional and subject to change, the likes of NGRRC are still listing there dates as provisional and for all I know may have had to make a few alterations to the one they initially published.
New Era's calendar looks as if its altering about every 2 weeks.
Firstly they had Silverstone listed, then they didn't and then they did. there Snetterton date has changed in the latest NE publication.

Due to the proximity of the Brands BSB date and the Silverstone date to the first Cadwell date that Cadwell meeting is not on the DD calendar as it would mean 3 race meetings over 4 weekends which is to much of a financial strain for many.
As with last season the plan is for only one Mallory meeting, last year there were 3 NE Championship meetings at Mallory of which we were absent from the first and last.
Loss of Angelsey is a disapointment to many in DD including those trying to organise things and is also going to be a disapointment to the majority of NE members, why NE have had to remove the date from their provisional calendar I have no idea, but I'm fairly certain they didn't want to.

Over last Season we are
Missing, Oulton, Donington, Angelsey and a Cadwell
and have
Gained Brands & Silverstone

At this time last year NE had no Oulton or Pembrey

Did a New Era round at Mallory in March back in 2004, it was freezing over night, luckily I had my tyre warmers plugged in to the Paddock mains and strung across the inside of the van to try and take the chill off the air. The 916 was sat outside under a cover and drained of water which was later added after scrutineering.
Who said racing was fun :)

So nothing north of Birmingham at all....two at Mallory Park....two at Cadwell....Whose decision was it to drop Angelsey ? Is it too far to travel for the southern softies to travel north just once.

Absolute shi~e:(

One 583 Class B bike FOR SALE ANYONE INTERESTED....?

I take it that geography wasn't one of your best subjects at school then? According to my road atlas Mallory, Cadwell and Angelsey are all north of Birmingham.

The only available track that we may wish to race at, that we are not down for is Oulton and New Era aren't going there in 2010 because of the cost of hire.

How typical of our Mr. Bushell to respond by attempting to deride another member, when he knew exactly the point I was trying to make. Also the "latest dates list", I responded to, did not include Anglesey, and thanks to Skids' it was pointed out that dropping Anglesey was a New Era decision.

BTW Chris you are quite right Cadwell and Mallory Park are further north than Birmingham by in the region of 1-2 degrees N longitude. How's that for geography ?

I also posted "tongue in cheek" hence the smiley but then Mr. Bushell will always take cheap shots at others, outside the clique, just the same as he did with Imola Duke.

I feel also that there is a clique on this site, a handful of people who may know each other socially. It seems that no one can voice an opinion without being belittled or incurring the wrath of the clique. JMHO.

No smiley in your original post, just a rant and a  and :( smilies - neither of which denote any kind of "tongue in cheek" post by any stretch of the imagination. That and the quality toy throwing (not to mention the new cheap shot of "the clique" <rollseyes> in this one) and it's all looking a bit pathetic.

When in god's name are we gonna have a proper race calendar?

The holiday planner for next year looks like it's been shot with a blunderbus and I've got no days left.

I suspect a fair amount of wheeling and dealing, present giving and back slapping amongst circuit owners, series organisers, race club officials, BSB teams, BTCC officials, BRDC officials etc will take place between next week and first week in the new year. New Era are going to announce new classes etc, eveyone else is being cagey. MSV only have major dates on their calender, leaving room for additional major race weekends (BTCC, BSB, trucks, bicycles, decathalons, and anything else they hire out the tamac for)

It's been interesting and entertaining to say the least on this forum, with people throwing dummies out, being cantankerous (me included) and generally melodramatic about dates etc. I have to book flights back to the Uk, so think how I feel........ So I travel a bit further than some others, north or south by 1 - 2 degrees ;-) rolleyes:

When the the dust settles, the flag will drop............then the real whinging will begin!:D

Having been a member of the club for 8 years, been a Regional Organiser for 4 of those years (including organising rideouts, pub nights and other trips), organised 5 very successful trips to the factory, been on numerous jollies with other club members (including bike launches, shop launches, a pen launch (!!), show trips, the MotoGP Winners party, SBK and MotoGP team meets) , raced in DD since the start, written numerous articles for Pronto, organised/designed/created the Club Charity Calendar for 2004 (we sold over 150 calendars and raised over £250 for charity), wrote the shopping cart system for the website, designed the logos that you're looking at on the website right now (at the top) and helped in numerous other ways through the years, I guess you could say that I'm more of a giver than a receiver? ;)

I'm not surprised - but they were lovely trophies though - thank you very much Gordon!

I for one hope that all the pre-season camaraderie doesn't become a "them and us" in the paddock, whenever and wherever the paddock ends up?

Mind you, it wouldn't be racing if it didn't.....

Without breaking into a tyrade of "Wewease woderwick", anyone know if the DD dates have been truly finalised yet and if so, what they are...

I'm trying to diarise what I can get to this year for photo snapping and SWMBO is wanting to put tea&stickies dates in that same diary as I type (i.e. I'm gettting earache for blocking dates out and then saying they may change).

Thanks Guy (aka Plethora Incontinentia Buttocks III)

Club race calendars only ever finalise about now, but you get very little in the way of 'proper' confirmation until the circuits have sent out the contracts to the clubs.
So ... I don't know about you, but I've spotted a bit of disruption in travel and postal services ... so I'm guessing that they may be a little late this year getting the contracts out
However, it is the same old same old every year, and we just have to be patient while the national championships decide they really have made up their minds by signing _their_ contracts with the circuits.

have you noticed how the dynamic new new era website :frog: has been updated with the amazing new information about a completely new programme of classes and championships to be announced before christmas ... not
If they havnt decided what they're doing yet, we've got no chance of being told anything 'final'.

With Formula Extreme probably being one of the target classes to get full grids.
