As it says.

Mine is due by April apparently!

Which model did you go for?

numbskull
26-Nov-2011, 20:04
Seeing as I can't afford any of them, I decided on the base model!

I say decided, the first one from the shop is a base model. With ABS.

I wouldn't want one if someone else had already picked one up...

maybe if I hadn't chucked so much into racing next year....

lucky boy - not seen on the flesh yet but videos make great promo

I'm tempted, but I'd want the S with all the gadgets.
Looking at them at the NEC, the red just doesn't do it ... or more accurately the Tricolore is awesome, so I'd have to have that one...

Bionicle
26-Nov-2011, 22:03
TBH it just did not give me that "i want one" feeling when i saw it at the NEC this week, actualy put some black spots on it and from the front it would look like a ladybird, those mirrors just dont do it any justice at all. drop it on the left and your looking at replacing a few grands worth of rear shock... so i will be keeping what little money i have in the piggy bank for now.

numbskull
26-Nov-2011, 23:11
I haven't seen it in the flesh, and I can't afford £24 grand for the tricolore, so I guess i'll have to settle for the cheap one that has loads of faults.

If it is really that bad, I'll take it off your hands.... No charge!

Anyway, it is cheaper than a couple of years racing!

3 seasons cost an 1199 whoever you are or however much you lie to yourself about how much it costs.....

3 seasons entries - £7.5k
1 sorted bike that can win (even on a budget by buying a prepped bike and spending almost nothing else) - £2k
(and that assumes you stay in one class)
food and travel - £3k (£1k/season, and that is optimistic at only ~£120/weekend)
Trackdays, crashes, anything else -£1,500

So that is an absolute minimum, no matter who you are of £14k.... How much is an 1199?

Or, look at it another way.... Your 848 and a Class A bike will cost you pretty much an 1199 even before you start any racing this year.

bradders
27-Nov-2011, 12:59
I am totally jealous, even if I could afford 15k or whatever I just couldn't do it on a bike, same as 2k on a watch; much as I want one, and could make it affordable, I just couldn't

seems different if you spend the same amount on several things, go figure :D

and my 848, the A bike and a years racing won't cost me the same as an 1199 :biaggi:

Enjoy Neal - I'm looking forward to seeing the first one on the road :)

£9k on 848
£2.5k for entries (just DD)
£2k for a Class A
.... That is without incidentals/extras/crashes/food/upgrades or prep. Looks pretty close to me, and doesn't include any losses in selling the B bike..... But if you need to kid yourself, away you go.

£2.5k for entries (just DD)
.

I don't intend paying that much that would cover my entries and tyres
Unless you've added in Test days

£220 a round
8 rounds = £1760
7 Rounds = £1540

Hopefully 4 sets of tyres for around £600 depending on how I get hold of them, ie. pick-up in person or posted out to me

Just met up with Everton at Lunchtime he put his deposit down on one at JHPs on Friday to replace his RSV4, which I must admit sounded like a bag of spanners when it pulled up at H-cafe earlier

If I had the money spare I'd wait unti the 2nd year before buying a new model as the first customers seem to do a lot of product testing these days

I know some others who have bought one too

Plus a few extras such as Termi Exhaust.
Never does seem to stop at just the standard bike, shame they have to come with emission compliant Exhausts as they are often the first things replaced

bradders
27-Nov-2011, 17:24
off thread a little but connected....I had to take the Akros off my 848 to fit the b'work on last night. From here on in, I will never have a bike with std exhaust again!! Light as a feather they were...so I can see now why people spend the dosh on these extras as well as making it look a little better and sound better

what extras Neal; cans, carbon....?

numbskull
27-Nov-2011, 18:32
haven't bothered ordering any extras yet.

i'll wait till they're available in a years time!!

I think its gorgeous and I feel an irrepressible need to adopt one as my new touring bike (still stuck in the 70s where I fervently believe all bikes have to have clip ons and rear sets). Make mine an S. Now just have to sell some body parts - someone else's that is.

and a very nice motorcycle it is Mr Pullen.

To be honest given the choice of your bayliss or the Penegale I would take the Bayliss.
So when you win the Lottery and need a worthy cause for re-homing your bike you know where to find me.

That'll be the one, look forward to seeing your bike, a very rare beast indeed!

I come from Peterborough and had a choice of 3 dealers, Italia Moto came highly recommended, so I made my order through them, hopefully my experience reflects that of the recommendations:)

Saw the Panigale "S" in the flesh today at the London Excel show, pretty looking bit of kit, (wish the dolly bird that was perched on it came with it) ??
The only 'bit' that raises concern I suppose - is the tail/number plate stem, no doubt having been used to two pipes tucked under the tail, for a while on the 1098, it looked a tad 'bare'

The liitle blonde at the Pirelli stand was stunning, any one else clock her ???

Ive just ordered the base model without the abs but with DDS. This bike will be used as a dedicated track/race bike. So taking that into account I shall be selling off all the road items such as:

Lights
Mirrors and indicators
Fairings
Brake lines
Rear shock

All items will be removed before the bike even turns a wheel on the tarmac.

Sorry my first post is trying to sell stuff.

Im trying to order an 1199S at the moment but my usual dealer has sold their allocated number and Im not convinced that the other dealers I have spoken to aren't just going to take an order which will mean July or later delivery date.
Anyone know if there are any dealers who havent sold their allocation of S's ?

You could try Parkinsons in Colchester.

I'm fairly sure they have a base model available in May, so they may have an S

So I took the test ride. Being already in lurve with my 998R, I find I take test rides and then get back on the 998 and feel that the bike tested doesn't come close .

Oh dear, after riding the Panigale I find myself obsessing over how beautiful (in the eye of the beholder I know), how fantastic the engine is, what great handling etc... Worse the dealer gave me one of those hardback book brochures which now is my preferred bedtime reading.

Problem is, I'm not going to sell the R and I am shortly about to be overcome by the impulse to order the Panigale (affordability/recession/ blah bah).

Not only that, but in my mind's eye it already has a set of termis and carbon flummery.

I am consulting my life coach, psychiatrist, marriage counsellor.....

commiserations/encouragement invited.
