Battery problem

Hi there guys!!!
A friend of mine left the head lights open and his battery is dead!
He has some jump start cables with him that have the usual calipers in one side and a a different plugs in the other side.

Can he jump start from a car?What should he do?

No prob jump starting 12v is 12v where ever its coming from.
