Not sure what this is, maybe nothing.

When moving the bike either back or forward, I have recently notice a low (as in a low/deep sound) clicking noise coming from the rear. I am certain that i can feel it though the rear seat when I am pushing the bike.

I havent had a proper look yet, or had the bike up on the stand, just thought I would ask you guys first.. Any ideas?

Cheers

Check the cush drives aren't protruding from the back of the sprocket and scraping on the swingarm

Hi,

Have just checked these and they seem fine.

Any other ideas?

...then you either have: -

1) Tight spots on the chain

or

2) A knackered circlip groove in your sprocket retaining flange.

Antonye has posted about this several times, so do a search on 'rear hub' or 'sproket flange' and all will be revealed!

I did the cush drives a month ago, and have just fitted the later type spocket flange as the clicking had continued - now all is quiet and as it should be in rear hub land!!!

Ah, another convert to the way of the spacer rather than the circlip :D

Glad you got it sorted Giles - did you manage to get a second-hand sprocket flange or did you stump up for new?

I stumped up for new in the end to make sure I got it all sorted before yesterdays outing to Donington.

Still, now that's done it shouldn't give any more problems from the back end...
