A question to our member law enforcers.
How does the law stand in displaying your tax disc?
Some debate about this at Foxes last night. I'm currently carrying mine with me whenever I ride the MultiStrada as I simply haven't bought a decent holder to fix it to the bike.
Mrs Everton's RS250 has no good place to fix a licence holder unless I bodge up a bracket so she is carrying hers as well.
Advice please.
Just phoned DVLA, you should have a few letters mate.......

The fine is for "failure to display" BUT in my experience you simply get reported to the DVLA who then check whether you have a valid tax disc and will take it no further if you do.
I do have mine on the bike though...

How does the law stand?
Usually with their feet at ten-to-two, hands clasped behind their back and bending slightly at the knees.

I've not carried one for years, last time I got a pull I had to show it at the station as part of the 'producer'. I'd be interested to hear Rushjob's opinion though ?

Well, you're supposed to have it displayed at all times on the left side preferably at the front of the machine....
but.... as you're all aware, they get nicked even with lockable tax disc holders on sometimes (don't they psychlist?), so upon speaking with policeman, we can carry them on ourselves at all times, displaying a note in the holder saying that's where it is...
IF, we are not with our bikes, they can always do the check from DVLC which will confirm we have paid, which is all they're worried about...
:) :)
Yep, that's right. The law says it must be displayed visible from the left of the vehicle. But pretty much any copper will only require you to be able to produce it on demand. I'd guess they might prefer it in your pocket anyway, to help slow down the theft of them - just say you're doing your bit to fight crime!

Official version - as above...
Practical version - is it taxed - yes, good show me the disc.....
Has anyone ever noticed that there is a box on the HORT/1 ( producer ) form for a vehicle excise licence?
See, no problemo.....;)
