View Full Version : Where do you stick your chain?

Not asked a stupid question for a few days, so here goes:-

I'm getting increasingly paranoid about security. I currently chain my 999 through the back wheel, but this isn't as secure as threading the chain through the frame. The question is ... what's the best route for doing this, as I haven't been able to find a gap wide enough to admit the (rather large and heavy) chain I use!
:puzzled:

What do you folks do? Cheers!

Round the swing arm to the brothers bike frame (535).
Although I did have a go at putting it through the frame on the right.

535 Virago? With that next to yours as a deterrent, why do you need a chain?

On my 996 I loop it through the back wheel and then up through thte rear footpeg hangers ... seems to go ok but it's a decent size chain so I can't see too many other places for it.

I use an Oxford cable lock,(cant remember the name)and loop it through the back wheel and over the seat.

Hi Loz

This is how I do mine. One Oxford ground anchor and one Oxford 1.8 Meter chain.

I loop a chain through the rear wheel, and a second through the triangular frame section above the gear lever (the same place Murray goes through above). Mine doesn't go round the bike though, just through the frame and back down along the chain to my ground anchor.
