No - these were my old GRP track fairings, they're pre-impregnated colour, not bad for cheap track stuff, that's how they came!!!
I've got carbon / kevlar ones now, these look even better, but I don't have a really decent picture of them.
Here's one from a wet and dirty Brands;

I can confirm it was indeed rather wet!!!
As for black, I almost went that way a couple of years ago but decided not to, although I quite fancy it again. Although still want to try out a silver and blue, oh, choices choices.
Rattler,
Where'd you get the pre-preg in black from?
Cheers

I was thinking about a blue duke before I went for black, you don't see many blue 996's.
http://home.btconnect.com/TimHoward/blueduke1.jpg
You should put yours back to redbull colours Jamie - they look the dogs!!

Give Barry a call - his fairings are about the best I've seen. Similar to Vimori quality, but about half the price!!!
He will also paint (pre-impreg) in any solid colour and put in number panels if you want. Mob:07748 876 842 He's also a really nice guy.
Tim:frog:
hmmmm... i still like that blue....
i am still thinking about going for blue and silver when i get my arse in gear though.
does anyone know who owns that blue and silver 748r that i keep seeing around?

My RedBull stuff is all my road bodywork Tim, wouldn't want to put that on track. However if I get my bodywork sorted out and painted up I know a guy who can make up some nice big RedBull vinyl stickers ;)

That last pic Tim, are pretty much the colours spot on. But I want to split the colours how my bike is now...
http://www.desmo.plus.com/cadwelldsc/small/4.jpg
but have the silver instead of the yellow, then have a nicer, deeper blue.
what with dirty patches and oil streaks...:puzzled:

I've still got that fibreglass repair kit if you need anything patched up - I'm sure I owe you a few favours!
Desmondo
19-Aug-2004, 17:07
Yeah you do owe me a few. I'll bring over my crap panels and you can give them back to me looking pristine. Sound fair? :D :P
Seriously though, most of the major holes are sorted. It's more a case of making it all smooth again.

Well I've got plenty of filler left as well, so feel free to drop them round and I can sort them out.

I may well do that. At least you know what you're doing with that stuff. Maybe one night in the week next week?

No probs mate. Might pop in to see the boys at TecMoto on saturday if you fancy it? You know where we are anyway so drop them round any time.

Was thinking of popping down there some time soon to see how they were getting on but I've got a wedding to go to this Saturday.
Rattler, your bike looks the business!!
- I had my ex - ZX6R painted pearl black by Padded Cell which looked great but I was forever touching it up (oh,er..) 'cos every little stone chip showed up flouro green! - Also people always assumed the reason I'd had it painted was because I'd lobbed it (it wasn't, it was because when I bought it new it was painted like a hideous stripy-green sweety)..
Can you post some pictures of your carbon bodywork?
Rattler
20-Aug-2004, 14:54
The picture from Brands (with the wets on) is the carbon/kevlar bodywork. Its ex-Renegade 998RS stuff and is very light - it looks very strong too, but I don't want to test it!!!

Give it to me, I'll test it :D
I'd just like to add that I believe my 998 may have been the first of the black run of Dukes, from our man Barry... well on the board at least.... I know I went with the flow after 2 mates got their kits off him...
How are those carbon panels going now anyway Tim? Saw Steve last week, with his shiny new 749R
Sheep the lot of you!!! LOL!!!

JP - you're right of course - I know I'm not the first, I did get inspiration from yours (but without the flames on the airbox panels!!!!:roll:) amoungst others, like this Chilli one (I think);

When it looks this good in black, its bound to be copied.
Any pics of yours?

I'm probably going to sell the carbon/kevlar panels soon, as I'm planning a change for next year.
If anyone's interested let me know - it'll save on ebay charges!!!

Tim, might be looking for another set of panels but in no rush. The slab sided 998 panels fit OK on a 996 don't they? 99% sure they do.
Rattler
20-Aug-2004, 18:36
Yep they do, in fact these are for a 998RS, but were fitted to a 996S before I got them and obviously will fit the 998s too.

I have some track bodywork for my Senna which was painted in Ford Bumper paint (!), which is tough and gives a matt black look. I've then had the original Senna decals stuck on and I have to say it looks ******** cool.
Black is the new black Tim !!
When you've got your finger on the pulse of fashion like myself !!! LOL!!
I too have a black 748. Just standard bodywork resprayed but rather lovely if I do say so myself.
Stone chips are a bugger though; it's yellow underneath.
Robbie :D
The reason i brought my senna 3 because it looked the bizzzzz in black , and thats why my multistrada is black , and know i just painted the 916 track bike black . black is definetly the only way to go:ninja:

Love black too...with gold decals and a white number board looks good..like my mates 851 here...(which is for sale and will probably be at popham on the DSC stand if anyones interested)
Just remember they are a bitch to clean..I have to get the polish out every time I ride my black S4R - shows all the marks !
