20 years after leaving college a guy i knew got in touch and said could he come and visit. Sounded a great idea even if he wasn't exactly best mate in world at college.

He turns up half an hour early with wife and 6 kids, (must buy him a TV). Exhaust all interesting conversation within 30 minutes and spend next 6 hours regretting answering the phone. Almost lost the will to live.

My daughter came in to the garage and asked "WHY ARE YOU STOOD ON A STOOL WITH A ROPE ROUND YOUR NECK DADDY"

The only highlight was another old (real) mate popped in, left Aprilia RSVR Factory & Tuono test bikes in garage. He stopped for BBQ then drove 2 1/2 hours home to ring and take the **** about the guests before they had left.

Any computer hackers who can kill the Friends Reunited site, please do it ASAP.

Have you ever had an old reunion thats been painfull?:flame:

Not a reunion as such, but I accidentally emailed an ex-wife recently (we both work for the same firm, but in different counties). That was a bit of an "ouch" moment! Ouch!

Friends wife started looking at FR, ended up getting back together with an ex boyfriend. One divorce later, he's a little smug as the ex has now split up with the school boyfriend and he's happily remarried.

Ho Hum.

I've been to 2 school reunions ..... the most recent organised through the FR site. Both great evening entertainment. I spent the first half hour to an hour looking at people coming in and trying firtsly to guess who they were as they looked so old OR wondering what their secret was as they looked exactly the same as they did at school .... except for the dodgy late 70s early 80s fashion sense (well most of them dressed a little better anyway).

Early conversations a little subdued ... mostly about what job, married, kids etc etc ..... and then people start chatting/hanging about with the people they used to .... talking about the same stuff they used to ... some people gettiing stuck into people they used to as well ... a few drinks followed by a slowie on the dancefloor ... and the odd kiss and cuddle from what I could see.

One or two seemed to have done well for themselves financially ... own business doing well etc ... one reminded me of Boycey from Only Fools and Horses .... others not done so well. Some a bit worse for wear ...... on bloke ended up slouched over the bar with his trousers half down .... he even threw a punch at someone at one point ..... definitely too many shandies. Fabulously entertaining ...... and to cap it all I won a DVD player in a raffle!

I think the old adage 'never go back' is invaluable in these circumstances. I was (briefly) associated with my old school via F.R. It was a convent (as you might expect). The only REALLY succesful student was the one that got expelled in the 4th year for crimes undisclosed.

Schooldays were absolutely, without question, the worst time of my life.

I can't think of anything worse than going back

what spring to mind here is this.

If friends or peeps have not bothered to get in contact after many years, maybee they don't want to.

Maybee they were not the good friends you thought they were.

Sometimes the past should stay that way.

I have kept in contact with a few schools friends from late 70's, but thats it.
I don't miss the rest off them, so hey, life goes on, time stops for no one.

just my input on a wet afternoon.

cheers

Wouldn't touch them with a bargepole...:barfy:

Mind you...did have a great time at a club once when a guy who was "dead popular" at school started to chat me up...
until I said "still using the same crap aftershave from school then?"...he just about choked in his drink when he realised the dusky female he was chatting up was the geeky fat "****" in glasses he used to pick on at school....
Should have seen his face!

HA,HA,HA,HA,HA!

BDG:- put it down to experience, never to be repeated.
As my old headmaster used to say: "Everyday..a day at school"
:puzzled:
(come to think of it, every day was a day at school for him..Doh!)

Sorry...killed that thread didn't I?

All experiences in life make you a better person...I wouldn't have the determination I have today if it wasn't for them...
I ADORED school...Just hated the people IN IT!;):P

In support of the FR site it has allowed me to get in touch with a couple of really good mates from school that I was too lazy to keep in touch with while following hubby round the country......so it ain't all bad.

And yes I'm still in touch with them now and we meet up for a meal a couple of times a year.

We've also had a Reunion organised through the site and it was a real blast from the past seeing people I'd not seen for 15 years and how they've changed and what they are doing now.(Ok so that really gives away the age!!!)

"not seen for 15 years" bloody hell girl, I've been divorced longer than that...........

On the subject of partners from the past I got re-introduced to an old girlfriend after I had split from a partner, we got together, after about 2 years I moved in with her, sold my house-BIG mistake, lasted 16 months and cost me loads. And then I had to buy another house and the frigging prices had rocketed.
Why make the same mistake twice, when there are so many NEW mistakes you can make.

Sorry, Loz, you've completely lost me on that one. Just out of interest, why would you direct that comment at me? Are you saying I'm not overloaded in the 'baps' department. Well, it's a fair cop. However, I'd still like an explanation. So, before I lose it and start sending abusive U2U's, please post explanation.

Only 6 hours BDG?

I was "re-united" with an old girlfriend who I used to live with back in the days when there were no colour telly's and I couldn't have afforded one in any case as I was trying hard to mantain a Norton Commando in running condition, what a joke. Sorry I digress!

As I was saying, I was "re-united" with this girlfriend who though somewhat dim still managed to remember my school and searched for me. Upon said re-discovery, she bombarded me with e-mails and pics of everything from her stupid joke of a motor car - a Smart, to her Mum's B&B and eventually a rather lovely photo of herself failing miserably to disguise the additional pounds she had accumulated in the interim period. I'm not saying she was BIG, but I'm still downloading the pics 6 months later!

Eventually she got the message and stopped mailing me cos she also discovered my works address and thence my phone number through my profile, who's the muppet now then? Now she's never off the bloody phone!

Any idea how to get rid of this one? The word NO obviously ceased to exist in her lexicon some time ago.

HELP..........................

Ruth, it's convoluted, but involves Stella Artois, a concurrent thread and "nippes". Nothing to do with you personally, in this instance.

Anywhoo, it seemed like a good idea at the time and it was before dinner, so I was very hungry.
