Phil,

Marc Potter is now MCN editor.

You can always ask Michael directly - he's an open, honest & likeable guy IMO - drop him a line -

Michael.Neeves@emap.com

Good luck and looking forward to seeing y'all at Donny.

Dave.

fil2 04-Aug-2005 11:34

thanks everton.....

I just aint heard of either of them....i obviously knew Micheal Neeves was a MCN bike tester after he was at cads but other than that know very little about race experience etc

fil2 04-Aug-2005 12:08

3..?

Lost........

its gonna be a nightmare to get into top 10 in race and qually.... :frog:

domski 04-Aug-2005 12:12

Mike Atack, Mike Neeves and Mark Potter(?)

dickieducati 04-Aug-2005 12:12

i think both the guest bike are multi's and mike's makes 3.

antonye 04-Aug-2005 12:59

So are 55 and 56 both points-scoring entries then, or just guest riders?

dickieducati 04-Aug-2005 13:02

i beleive they are the ducati uk guest bikes so non points scoring.

not that it matters one jot to me. but assuming they come for arguments sake 1st and 2nd, are those points taken out of the eqaution or does 3rd place in effect get maximum points? maybe worth claifying now save any toys being thrown at a later date.

domski 04-Aug-2005 13:11

The way I understand it is that the Guest riders affect nothing.

So if they do finish 1st & 2nd, then the 3rd place rider will get maximum points (35) and so on as per normal.

NBs996 04-Aug-2005 13:26

Mark Potter was at cadwell back in April testing some bmw type tourer thing. Chillo-style wheelies over t'mountain and panniers dragging round Coppice... he was quite handy!

So long as he gives me plenty of space each time he comes past then I'll be happy enough.

Unknown factor is Glyn, on Chi's old number... what's the scoop on him?

Twinfan 04-Aug-2005 13:31

Michael Neeves is an ex-250 racer I think. I reckon he'll be handy enough on the multi-numpty...

lizzie 04-Aug-2005 13:59

Michael Neeves was racing at Brands with Bemsee when we were there last month - so in fact, he's had more recent racing experience than any of you lot (Dom excepted)!

Didn't do especially well, but I've no idea whether that reflects the standard, whether his bike wasn't up to it/had problems etc.

I've heard Marc Potter is quick too.

Michael is on the DucatiUK guest bike, but I don't know whether Marc is considered a guest rider or not - and are we sure he's on a Multi?

fil2 04-Aug-2005 14:03

Christ where are they all comming from............is he a in the championship now then...................whats the scoop to repeat nic................:D

yeah our little friend dom has been racing in SoT on the 748 as well as DD......naughty naughty............:P

Quick search on Google...

MCN tester: Michael Neeves
Age: 33
Weight: 12st 7lb
Height: 6ft
NEEVES’ riding style is derived from racing 250cc and 600cc bikes.

Also found some qualifying times with BEMSEE at Brands GP (although didn't race by the looks) doing 1:38's

TIME SHEETS

Mr Neeves, Trev Franklin and Marc Potter did a KRC Endurance race at Donny last year too.

Of course don't forget Marc Potters best result this year, he was 6th!!

...out of 6, in the election ;)

dickieducati 04-Aug-2005 14:07

there's nothing like a "novice race series for those wishing to step up from trackdays"........................................ ......

........................and this is nothing like it!:lol::lol:

absolutely love it though. :D

TP 04-Aug-2005 14:08

"Entrants applying after the 12 February 2005 for the 2005 series will have to have been fully paid up members of the Ducati Sporting Club as at 1 January 2005, novice licence holders or not have raced for at least 5 years."

Does Marc fall into that catergory? If not then I assume he can't score points etc.?

Not that it affects me :P

Hrmm ... I seem to remember similar posts on day 1 at Lords .. and I'll say what I said then, it's a long game and don't count your chickens just yet ;)

I would say that you guys have got a much better chance now that McGrath is out!

 I bet there was a sigh of relief from a few top order bats in the English dressing room when it was announced!

When you're playing on what appears to be a road you need all the help you can get!

Just remember, we haven't batted yet either ;)

skidlids 04-Aug-2005 14:27

Glyn is making a return to racing after taking a couple of years off to get his bike shop up and running after leaving the RAF. I met him in 98 doing NG club racing where wh would drive over from Germany with a couple of mates.
He later moved into the Supemono class on a MHD bike running a tuned DR800 engine.
He was at TA4 at Cadwell on Mike Attacks old bike his first time out on it and getting use to riding on Diablo's
He likes Donny, its a 675cc bike so we will see how he gets on.
Hopefully he will be setting up in the paddock with us just like he use to, which will be useful as he was always good at the BBQ side of things.

Still need to get Luke Brackenbury (Bike Magazine) out in the series for a guest ride sometime, he has been wanting to have a ride in the series all season

Scooter916 04-Aug-2005 14:47

Well kev that abou sums me up....
Just for those that see me as a threat, DONT, Im in this for the fun and will be out there having fun, I have done the axe murderer thing and all i got from it was very sore and an empty bank ballance.lol
The reason i have come back to racing so to speak is that i well n truly spanked myself and my pristine 916 a few months ago and i really cant be assed to do the road thing again, tis too dangerous.
So be at at the back, front or in the middle i will be there having a good crack with someone of simmilar abilities.
See you aaa at Donny
Glyn:burn:

dickieducati 04-Aug-2005 14:50

looking forward to it.

skidlids 04-Aug-2005 15:00

And for anybody looking at Glyns profile
here is one of his previous ones from over 3 years ago
http://217.199.188.40/xmb/member.php...member=Glyn916

when in the RAF and based at Diss.

ChrisBushell 04-Aug-2005 15:04

Just to clear up a mis-understanding somewhere further up this thread.

Neither Marc Potter or Michael Neeves, will score points at Donnington, both are guest riders. Thus you will all be able to fight on a level playing field.

fil2 04-Aug-2005 15:14

Dammit...........more non- orange bib wearing riders up the top end then...

looks like us lil ole novices better start picking up our games................

Lucky its all for fun eh............

:smug:

domski 04-Aug-2005 15:20

If they're that fast - You may even learn something!!

However, I'll be so far in front it won't matter to me

...which way did Geoff and Clint go? :D

[Edited on 4-8-2005 by domski]

fil2 04-Aug-2005 15:27

Thats the great thiing about having riders like geoff in the series its something to aim for..shows how well the bikes can go in the right hands.............if we can ever manage to keep em in sight for more than 1 lap lol.....

so for donny it seems as though we have Geoff, Clint, Ian,Micheal Neeves, Marc Potter,Domski,Skids,Ck+AK's rider( tbc ), Glynn ( scooter916 ) i think 9....all having raced before entering the DD race series...........( sorry if i missed any1)

Come on novices lets show these guys what we got.... ;)

Phil

PS..before anyone goes off on one ..its not a moan or a winge its just interesting :frog:

How many are allowed to race?
Will there be a % of the fastest lap to qualify?
If there is a very full grid and the 2(?) guest bikes are taking up grid slots will I, never having ridden at Donny, be so far behind them that, if they are the fastest qualifier, I lose my tail end charlie position, or there just isn't room on the grid? :(
We're doomed Mr Mainwaring, we're dooomed!

skidlids 05-Aug-2005 00:08

Paul as long as there is space on the grid quallifying times shouldn't come into it after all it is only club racing or in this case Super Club, not a lot of difference. Its not like MRO or National.
If we have more entries than spaces on the grid then things would get interesting, but its not going to be a problem at Donington.
