My Mum and Dad bought me a copy of Relics in the early 70s when I was perhaps about 6 or 7 years old. Use to listen to it constantly along with teh Beatles White Album. I think we had 6 Lps in the house back then and I had to compete with Shirley Bassey, Ray Coniff? Tom Jones and Englebert Humperdink. Heard See Emily Play on the radio yesterday which brought it all back. I wonder how Blur got away with releasing 'theres no other way' its the same song!

Err, your parents had 'eclectic' taste in music.

Damn good move giving you Relics so young! My eldest boy is in to David Bowie at the moment - he's 10!

And Blur - well, dunno but it was pretty damn cheeky!

I'd be into David Bowie given half a chance

MARTIN H 16-Jun-2006 16:05

Yup, they started buying cassettes of all sorts of **** as time went on. I think they used to go to some sort of Cash & Carry place where they had a limited selection of music. Later on they would come home with Stylistics and such like cassettes but they would always be something for me. I remember getting a T rex album which changed my life music wise. I actually wore the tape out in about 6 months. Then I got Deep Purple 'In Rock' and a few similar albums. Then the Punk thing started and me and my mates would between us buy 1 single a week and share it!

Bowies Space Oddity was the inspiration for me, then into Dolls/Velvets and punk, aahh, wonderful times. Did you never tape John Peel on a night Martin??

No wonder you've gotten me - it's not from a Pink Floyd song!!

"It's one o'clock and time for lunch,
When the sun beats down and I lie on the bench,
I can always hear them talk.

etc etc"
