Robin,
There are basically four styles of Ohlins fork that were used on 851/888 Corsa's.

The 1990 bikes used this style with a hole in the side of the lower stanchion.
They are Ohlins #FG9050

The second type used on 1991 Corsa's was similiar to the first, but has no hole in the lower stanchion.

Motobee 13-Sep-2005 10:00

The third type was used on 1992 works bikes and 1992/93/94 customer corsa's. These can be identified by the black plastic mounts that support the front fender.

The Ducati part number for the 92/93 forks is different from the 1994 forks, so there may be some internal changes. But from the outside they all look the same.

The Ohlins number for the forks on a 1992 works bike is FG9031.

Robin,

My 93 Corse parts list shows the LH leg as 34020161B & the RH as 34020151B.These are the ones that Motobee has shown in his first pic.

Rgds, Rob

I'll take a pair if you've found a box.:frog:

Motobee 13-Sep-2005 10:06

The fourth type of Ohlins fork (FG9340) was only used on 1993/94 works bikes.

Motobee 13-Sep-2005 10:14

Rob the forks shown in the 1993 parts book would be the forks in the third picture. You can even make out the plastic clamps in the drawing, even though they are not available as a separate part.

Felix 13-Sep-2005 10:35

Motobee is correct by my understanding. BTW, I have the Corsa parts fiche for the years 90-94 if you need it.

Motobee, I'll let you know the next time I am over your way. Used to live in Walnut Creek until about 5 years ago. Still work for a company in the Bay Area. Maybe we can meet for a pint at the Pyramid Brewery sometime.

Sounds good, I work two blocks away from Pyramid.

thanks for the great help motobee and everyone else on this one.
Bike is confirmed as a 90 corsa, but 91 spec. Which make the forks in pic two corect, they also have mag steering head etc.
JH also confirmed similar info .
which means it should look like this, http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/xm...9&pid=230 828

still awaiting pics from the guy to see what sort of mess it is in though.
I need to get a good overall costing of items like forks overhaul, engine and sundry parts, carbon body work, which this bike should have.
Need as much spares and costings as possible before I decide if it is worth going ahead and making the purchase.

A bit to do yet me thinks, where is the best place to get costings on ohlins forks and shock work.

cheers
robin

I wish to add the following informations :

Few months ago, I 've sent to Ohlins France my forks referenced : FG.9030.
The told me this forks was used on Ducati 888 Racing in 91 and 92, according to their own professional documentation. The internal spring size and oil regulators are different.
It looks like quite similar to SP.4 model except one external detail : Along the "yellow tubes", the alloy rings are smooth ...

phil911 14-Sep-2005 00:13

Thanks to Motobee for the precious informations ...

I don't want to start confusions but ..............

The last generation of 888 Corsa, along 94 saw another kind of Ohlins fork, referenced FG.9341 ...
The main differences are about the bracket size for calipers support and essentially the diameter of the spindle which is tightened with an external large nut ...

See joined file ...

... Sorry, but difficult for me to explain, hope to be readable ... ???

Thanks Phillipe for the additional information!

One thing to keep in mind when looking at these old racebikes, is that as time went on they were usually updated with better parts to make them faster. They also tended to get crashed fairly often. So unless they were parked in a shed after their first season of racing or sold to a collector, they don't necessarily have all of their original parts.

Robin, please post some pics of the bike when you get them. Inquiring minds want to know. Also, do you know what the chassis number is?

"""So unless they were parked in a shed after their first season of racing or sold to a collector, they don't necessarily have all of their original parts. ""

I agree ... I currently own one of the last 32 888 Corsa built during 1994. The bike is always 100% original after few races . End of 1994, it's been stored an usued.
I've got the technical documents for this item from Ohlins France. Only a few of these forks references FG.9341 have been imported in my homecountry. According to Ohlins, some calipers brackets support didn't resist to the brake power, especially with carbon brake disks, unusable after 1994 ...

This following pic "speaks" to me ...
:o

Phillipe,
Is that a photo of you on your bike?

Brian

phil911 14-Sep-2005 11:09

No ... You can see here a well known french rider named Florian Ferracci.
He was official rider for SIMA company, Official Ducati importer in 1994 !!!
He's currently Moto GP mechanic ...

I own 888 Racing's but don't ride them on circuit ... My future project ...very soon !!!

But I ride a very very small special machine for endurance races.
It's a racing SOLEX, this small french mopet with air cooled engine !!!
Here I am, few laps before my victory after a 6 hours of endurance race, previous Week-end. I share this bike with another pilot, former Kawasaki official rider ...
I'm 43 and enjoy those races like a kid ... You may be surprised to learn that I've been recorded a 102 km/h during the race ...

Please, don't laugh too much !!!!!
