doesnt make sence pedro 749r paid £215 for his 600mile first service my first service is £216.on a 999 bip.i thought it was dearer to service a R model than a biposto ,this is at john hackets |
Would'nt think there is any difference on a first service between an "R" and a standard bike |
i think its only on the 2nd service, not the first, dont quote me tho. /ian |
749S first service paid £244 |
999S first service paid £42.89 :D |

That'll be Italia in Lincoln then. They don't charge you labour on the first service so you only paid for the oil and filter. |
749R I paid £43.00 as well for 600mile service, Oh and £180.96 for my 6000 mile 1 year service, just thought I would get that in !! [Edited on 22-9-2005 by iang] |
i dont get ducati servicing costs? over £200 for a 600 mile service..thats ridiculous, it's brand new!! its just oil + filter, right? if KeefyB and iang paid about £43 for oil + filter then they are charging over £150 to drain/refill oil and unsrew/screw an oil filter which would take around 20 mins? also how come some dealers charge around £200ish for 1st annual service and some around £600ish for the same model? thats a big difference and surely it would be better for your pocket [though maybe not for your ar*e] to travel the length of the country to go for the cheaper option and get a monster ride at the same time? are the more expensive services having extras done (or a more thorough check over?) or are some dealers jumping on the brand wagon?:puzzled: |

Not quite what we said ... Italia charge only for the parts on the 600 mile service, not labour. The only parts are oil and filter, the labour it to replace the oil AND all the other stuff like check the valves, belt tension, balancing etc, which would normally cost you a couple hundred quid. They don't charge labour on it because they don't think it's reasonable to fleece you again so soon. :) |
fair enough...i thought at 600 miles you got oil+filter and a swift once over. i didn't know they checked the valves etc after 600 miles. WeeJohnyB :D |

Not quite sure if they do ALL the checks, but I was assured it was more than an oil change. |
At one time the first service was free apart from the materials - oil & filter. The dealer was reimbursed by the manufacturer, looks like most of them charge the customer for it now. |
shame, as it wouldnt take long to rack up 600 miles on your shiney new duke:mad: |

I met a guy at Italia yseterday who had traded a 620 Monnie for a 620 Multi. He was just in for the 600 mile service, having had it 6 weeks. He said he was enjoying it, but I reckon I would be frustrated having the service booked 6 weeks ahead and taking that long in the summer to get the miles in. :D |
thats only about 14 miles a day on your new bike:sniff: |

THat's what I thought. Mind you, I have a mate who stores a 916 in his garage - I won't say "rides a 916" because that rarely happens. He claims he doesn't get chance because of work (he does work very long hours) but I would have been off out for a half hour after work on the long light summer evenings. That would make the graft all worthwhile. :eureka: [Edited on 25-9-2005 by HW] |
As said by others, service costs for the 600 and 1 year service vary because some dealers threw the service in with the sale of tbe bike. Rather than do a deal on the price of the bike the dealer would do the services for the cost of parts only. Personally, I go to Italia and have done for years. Small annual service is around £220 and the large 2 year service with belts, clutch and brake fluid swap, coolant etc etc was £328 (ish). I'm happy with these prices as I feel they are competitive and I rate the work and guys at Italia. I have mates with Jap bike who pay similar or even higher service costs so I feel that I'm paying about the right kind of money. |
