SS / SL Gathering - CornerSpeed July + Pics

While interest is high and the heat wave seems to be over - how about a Supersport / Superlight gathering?

Dunno if Nelly could stand another gathering at Cornerspeed but, it is a very well know location to the 'Ducatisti'.

Thoughts please?

Frank

PS - Meet time seems to be 12 noon onwards.

Basic Map and route planning option for Cornerspeed in Nottingham is here:

and if you've not heard of Cornerspeed - the drinks are on you ;)

sounds good. i cant think of anything better i would like to see a load of ss's together.Hmmmm well maybe the pussycat dolls in the shower

nelly 09-Jul-2006 09:41

Why not indeed!!

Yesterday was great. If you want to go ahead and organise something Frank, you're more than welcome to plan Cornerspeed into the idea.
I can even join in with a certain SS ;)

Ian900SLV 09-Jul-2006 09:43

Great idea Frank, I would be up for that

andys 900ss 09-Jul-2006 10:31

Count me in too, althou I'll be away for most of Aug, so let me know when?

Andy

Iconic944ss 09-Jul-2006 19:04

Neil, you are inded 'Da Man'.

However, I think if we are to abuse your hospitality the date needs to suit you and your work schedule.

However, my thought were:

1) Sooner rather later while intrest in meets is good.

2) Sometime around the end of July?

I've not checked race / TD schedules but how about either the w/e of the 22nd or 29th July ???

Finally - Neil, are you hinting that we could all come and worship the zenith of SS's in this country :saint:

Cheers - Humbled 944 Frank

chicken 09-Jul-2006 19:26

Sounds like a great idea to me!

Zimbo 09-Jul-2006 22:46

I think I'd be up for that too. Not a bad ride for me from NW of Leeds.

nelly 10-Jul-2006 09:19

Frank, shouldn't be a problem on the 29th.

and yes..................... there could well be a certain Bloo feeling to the day ;)

Iconic944ss 10-Jul-2006 09:35

Excellent Neil, good call.

There are a few club races on that weekend: Brands / Cadwell / Croft but I guess Saturday is mainly practise day.

I feel a plan coming together :)

Frank

kwikbitch 10-Jul-2006 23:30

Can I come on Luthor????? :)

Iconic944ss 10-Jul-2006 23:57

Of course Lisa, although I did think you were part of the Cornerspeed welcoming committee ;)

Even though the focus is meant to be SuperSport and Superlight series bikes, it is just a poor excuse for any of the DSC / anyone with a Ducati or an interest in them or OK damn it, just an interest in bikes to come along and say hello.

Cheers - Frank

I'm also up for this - I will put out a newsletter to those on 900SL.com as well to get them to visit this thread for details.

Cheers Colin - 12am onwards seems to be a decent enough time for peeps to aim to be there.

I'll post this up on DuN as well - if anyone wants to post up times and place to meet for a ride-in please feel free.

Sadly, I think I'm stuck with A19/A1 main routes etc.

Looking forward to this already :)

Cheers - Frank

It better had be !!!

I've just spent 3 hours cleaning my bike after yesterday's downfall!

Seriously, yes - Nelly is well up for it and I MUST phone him tomorrow for a final chin-wag, no numbers as such yet and sadly I missed the deadline for it to appear in the free section of MCN.

12 noon onwards - looking forward to it already.

Cheers - Frank

Maxypriest 24-Jul-2006 10:58

Sorry I could not make the gathering – Burglar Bill visited on Friday night and broken into all the barns. Bizarrely he and his merry friends took nothing, I can understand him leaving the Steam Roller, as that would be a monumental blag, but all laid out for the taking were tools, grinders, a half decent lawn mower, jerry can full of petrol/2 dukes etc.

So I spent the weekend moving and securing stuff.

Any pictures available? How did it go?

FiscusFish 24-Jul-2006 14:18

Unless Franks got a time machine he won't know till next weekend...

Maxypriest 24-Jul-2006 15:04

Oh kock. I had it marked up as last weekend. Out this weekend too... Visiting SS Great Britain and some pubs.

ziggi 26-Jul-2006 11:47

If distance is a problem I can get cheap rates at the Marriott just off M1 J28. £44 for a deluxe room.

ziggi 26-Jul-2006 15:09

Nelly - have you got access to any SS/SL parts or know where to get some? I know people who are coming and not coming who need parts.

Can you actually still get original fairing/seat parts from Ducati for say MkI 1992 Superlight etc?

nelly 26-Jul-2006 21:24

Ziggi, parts are still generally available for chassis and engine. Some of the bodywork is getting quite difficult to get a hold of now, or more like the deliveries are taking time.
Best bet is to get a list of specific items together and go from there. I can first find out if it's still available and costs then check availability from the factory.

ziggi 26-Jul-2006 23:32

Great - i'll bring a list with me.

Ian900SLV 27-Jul-2006 20:34

Just cleaned off all the dead flies from the front of the SL and given it a clean.
Any ideas on how many plan to attend ????

ziggi 27-Jul-2006 22:46

Not a massive amount but enough to make it ok I think.

Ian900SLV 27-Jul-2006 23:00

Thats O.K then, you must owe me a drink or two anyway Ziggi for pointing you in the direction of that SL of yours LOL

Iconic944ss 27-Jul-2006 23:04

I'm hopeful of a dozen or so 2V's but have a feeling others might turn up - and are more than welcome!

I'm a bit miffed at missing the deadline for an entry in MCN's 'Live' listings but myself and others have advertised it as well as can be expected given the short time allowed - lol - my fault all around really....

I guess the first 'round' is on me then :)

Looking forward to putting some names to faces on Saturday.

Cheers - Frank

P.S. - Just give Clifford a damn good clean after the Buell meet and even put my nice full open Carbon Cans back on, so if you hear , "Bokka, Bokka, Bokka" it might be me.

RedMist 28-Jul-2006 18:48

Just caught up with the board - see yo all tomorrow - providing you don't mind a 749s gatecrashing?! :)

chicken 28-Jul-2006 19:31

The Chicken-mobile has just received clearance for take-off from central control (aka Mrs Chicken).

Unfortunately she will still be sporting 'road' bodywork unless I can haul myself out of bed early enough to swap it over.

Herb 28-Jul-2006 20:49

I'll be there, mostly to annoy the wife as I am leaving her at home with my parents. Ha ha, serves her right for 10 years of nagging!

I will be the fat guy who is walking funny. I put my back out this morning. I will doese up on Ibuprofen and hope for the best.

ali 28-Jul-2006 21:50

Really sorry I can't be there but the SL isn't running at the mo, and the DD bike needs lots of love and attention before the next race. Gutted. :(

Say hi to Bloo and all the lovely 2vs for me, and make sure that nasty Nelly man doesn't steal one away for illicit tuning purposes!

Have a great day,

Ali

Iconic944ss 28-Jul-2006 23:24

Herb - looking forward to meet you and switching swing arms

Ali - great shame but dont worry - there will be other chances ;)

Bike prep'ed - Weather forecast is hotter than today so I havent a clue what to wear yet but will end up like a kipper anyways.

Some traffic news thanks to the RAC (nothing around Nottingham - cheers)!
