Sorry boys they are actually 851Racing shocks - not sure if they will fit the T8 - very trick though - proper racing gear !

philthy 05-Sep-2006 23:07

Just a thought

Will they fit the M1R forked 851 , 89 model?

Nattyboy 05-Sep-2006 23:16

They probably will ! Marzocchi unit with remote reservoir and loads of adjustment. Part number is 36520051a - 851 racing - dealer price was £583.20.

Looking for £175 for quick sale.

Cheers
Nat

So do you think it would fit the monster?

Or are the 851 and 888 frames and rear swing arms different.

Rob B 06-Sep-2006 13:13

It'd fit certain Monsters as the whole ally swingarm and rocker assy is the same. Depends what Monster?
Rgds, Rob

Nattyboy 06-Sep-2006 17:33

Ive spoke to Louigi and he thinks its should be OK. Pedro from the UKMOC has also just popped round and hes of the same opinion - no guarantees though !

94 600 monster...reckon it will fit??

Mr.R 06-Sep-2006 20:16

Hi, 900 monster frames are basically the same as the 851/888 frame(sub frame differs but the shock will fit) 600's use a differant frame,so no go IMHO.

Nattyboy 09-Sep-2006 18:14

skidlids asked me what the shock length was (I assume it was for his desmodue ss bike). The eye to eye length is 33cm.

Ive also got some brand news 600ss and st2 shocks if anyone wants one of those !!

You may know something I don't, but as far as I was aware the carbed monsters use the same frame with just the swinging arm different (aluminium rather than steel) on the 900, and obviously designed to take the wider wheel. Shocks are identical and I have happily swapped shocks between 600 and 900 monsters without problems. The fuel injected monsters use a different frame, taken from the ST series, and have a different shock. The superlight as far as I'm aware is completely different as well, but I'm not an expert on them, just assuming they're similar to the SS frame?

jgriff 11-Sep-2006 01:37

They are the standard Marzocchi Duo Shock that is fitted to 1990 851, they are 330mm in length and will fit on 888's, and monster 900's. As a shock they are OK, but I replaced mine with an Ohlins DU440. But at Nattyboys prices you can't go wrong.

Griff

Nattyboy 11-Sep-2006 07:49

Cheers for that Griff..part label deffo says '851 racing' ??!!

I guess back then, they were "Racing" They are a good shock. Just Ohlins is better.

just finished fitting a t8 shock to my 97 m600 and the only thing you have to do is slightly slacken the banjo bolt on the top of the shock that connects the hose to it then tap it carefully through 180 degrees to clear the frame then nip it up again, job done ready for brands:)
