Last Days of Summer

With nothing more pressing to do this afternoon, I took the 749 out for a little spin up to Grafham Water. Beautiful day, melting tarmac, Corsas sticking very nicely thank you, not too much afternoon traffic, some favourite twisty roads, one heavily loaded ice cream cone and a little trip down to Jontis sailing school to see the guys and show off the new bike. Perfect! Tempted to stop at Chelveston at the pub that's under threat of closure but it looked deserted. Come to think of it, that was a good reason to stop. Instead, stopped off for a lone cider at a pub in 'the village that time forgot' (Water End) near Hemel before getting back just as the sun was setting.

Perfect, in every respect.

Looks like the place to be today Ruthie. :D

Especially compared to being stuck in a 4x4 In Hackney, Finchley, Harrow, back to Golders Green, Ongar and Hornchurch

ETR

must have been difficult deciding whether to bike or sail Ruth, it looks like there's a bit of breeze combined with sun, perfect :D

Well, some of us have got our priorities right

There was a woman sailboarder who had just come in to the shop at Jontis after admiring my bike. She told me she thought it was beautiful. Graham, the sailing instructor, said "she's got three" and she said 'you must have a very good job to afford that'. The best thing about 'my job' is currently not much happening. Just waiting for the winter onslaught. If I make this a 'winter only' career, should give me plenty of time for days like today.

Very breezy. White caps on the water and only sail boarders out this afternoon. No difficulties deciding on which bike though. The 749S is perfect. I was actually thinking, riding home that, if I had to, I could do away with the other two. Except that I'll need the Monster for bad weather and heavily laden days and I'll need the 996 as the icon and dream bike, even if I don't ride her much.

Sharpy, I do count myself incredibly lucky, every day. Whatever is or isn't going on work wise, going out on any bike is always a thrill for me and on a day like today abolutely top notch.

Keith, I don't plan to sell the 996 unless I get an offer I can't refuse. May have to sell the house but definitely not the bikes

Certainly was a nice day to be out on the bike, sadly I spent all day plus a couple of hours overtime at work, in it up to my neck.
Still it was a pleasent ride to work on a nice fresh morning, ride home was a bit hectic as the overtime had landed me right in the height of rush hour.

Still made up for it later with a ride over to the Englands Rose, sadly no other DSCers there (boring lot) but there were 8 other bikers there, a couple of them I knew. So after a bite to eat I ended up outside chating on a lovely Balmy evening before enjoying a spirited ride home.

Wish I could have got out in the sunshine as you did Ruth, the pics make it look like the middle of June

I wish I could get out week days for a blast, but I'm usually a bit busy with work/family stuff.
I did manage a short blast today tho,....a kinda abridged version of the 4 Counties ride I lead the BHCN on ,from time to time.Roads were fairly empty,..bike was awesome,...weather was great.
Got back home and cracked open a Stella,...lovely.Here's a pic,...apologies if it been on here before.
