Getting ready for 2016

Hello,

So i bought a bike off here (thanks skids) and wanting to get it all ready and sorted for next years racing.

There is a trackday on the 9th of oct at knockhill i was thinking of going too.

My main problem is the seat height is a bit low and close for me (i'm 6 foot 2). whats the best way of moving the seat up and back? Just getting brackets made up? or any other ideas?

Its an early SS frame and it currently has a 748/916 style seat unit.

Is there any other seat units that will fit the bike that might help give me a bit of room? And where is the best place to get replacement fairings?

Thanks for the advice.

Andy

Andy,

I live near Dunfermline but wont be able to make it up to Knockhill, but both Brian Alexander and Jim Rodgers are 6 ft ish and run SS bikes, and local. Think Brian is going to try to pop up so worth speak to both of them. Speak to kev for contact details if you require, or drop me an email stevemason41@btinternet.com

I run a Monster and played with my seat with simple ally brackets.

From what I have seen in the past the use of 4 brackets with 50mm spaced holes to fit to the original mounts have been used to move the standard fitment seats back an up. then it is a matter of filling the gap underneath to support the weight so as not to break the mounting points.
As a non welder I used the blue modeling strofoam in the past as it is very light, easy to cut and shape. It is also strong enough to stand on

Any idea where I'd get the brackets?

I usually buy lengths of 25mm (1 inch)wide alloy or steel about 2.5 to 3.0mm thick as it is ideal for fitting the slide on Dzus fasteners to and easy enough to cut with a hacksaw and put holes in with a cordless drill.

awesome! Thanks. Knew it would be a diy job!

Is the front fairing on the bike just a cut down 748/916 one?

And where would you get a replacement front fairing bracket? The one on it is a little damaged.

you could try brackets like these for re-positioning the seat

The fairing is in deed a cut down 748/996 top part

The fairing bracket I use is one of these
