Which part of your anatomy gets cold when riding in this weather
 

Took my 999 out on Sunday for the first time since October :o

It was fantastic, great to be on it again after racking up the miles through the winter on the MS.

I was warm enough, just wearing a Kushitani undersuit, one piece and paddock jacket but the inside of my thighs were pretty cold after 30 odd miles. No probs with the hands as my half price winter gloves bought at the NEC back in Nov are superb.

I also wear those stretchy cycling shorts which are excellent for keeping those special bits warm. (btw..........that's under the inner suit....not outside the leathers :lol::lol: ).

Where do you get cold and what novel ideas do you use to keep warm?

I came across this today (see below) which is what gave me the thought. Very useful for keeping the crown jewels warm and could it be adapted for the big bike.........probably need a smaller battery though.........still it depends on how much you have to keep warm.

i dont really do winter riding but out on the monster a bit lately.

fingers bloody freezing!

had to keep putting them down by the front cylinder to keep warm at traffic lights!:eureka:

Everton, what gloves are you rating so highly?
Only bit of me that gets cold is me fingers. Only ever found one pair of decent winter gloves, and they got nicked leaving me to ride home mid winter with bare hands :(

Rest of me is toasty enough, except on a really long ride then my toes start to chill a bit.
The under seat pipes are the best idea to ever hit a winter biker!!

They're Dainese something or other. Got them for about £30 at the bike show. Here's a picture.

If you're serious about winter riding, especially more than just a short run out then i'd strongly reccommend a heated waistcoat to fit under your leathers. By keeping your central core warm, you keep warmer blood pumping to the extremities.

Also Hein gerickes Pathan gloves £30, the ones that make you look like a 2 fingered crab type mutant also work very well. Daytona waterproof boots, a size larger than nornal so you can get a couple of pairs of thick fleecy socks work for me.

You'll end up waddling like a duck and its murder going for a pee.

I crossed the Pyrennes in a blizzard in March when all the locals were fitting snow chains and stayed nice and warm. Doesn't stop you falling off in the snow though!

Also find a car works very well when the weathers bad:lol:

thanks for the pic. they look like Dainese Panther which go for about £90! So you got a nice bargain there.

For some reason, it's my thumbs that get the coldest. :puzzled:

I wear my arlen ness one piece suit with wind proof top (busters) and t/shirt.
got dianese winter gloves and two pairs of socks.

But still get cold hands and feet :D

Hands and feet....but then I will ride with summer gloves and leathers with nothing much on underneath (!!!!!) :cool:
