How do I MOT a newly imported bike..? Hi guys I've just imported a bike from Luxembourg, and it's still bearing its foreign number plate. I can't re-register the bike in the UK until I have an insurance cover note and a valid MOT certificate for it, so what's the procedure? I've managed to insure it using only its chassis number for ID, but how do I go about getting it MOT'd? Can it be ridden to the MOT station 'as is' with its foreign plate? Also, how will the tester be able to fill out the MOT certificate if its not already UK registered? Seems like a bit of a catch 22! Anyone help? Cheers Steve |
take it to an MOT station, they will MOT the bike and put the frame no. where the no. plate usually lives:) |
Will a bike with one headlight for main beam, and one for dip pass an MOT here in the UK? Or will I need to have both headlights dipping together? Can I ride it to the MOT station legally? Anyone know for sure? |

you can insure a bike on chassis number alone. once insured you can ride it for test quite legaly so long as its booked in. once mot'd you can change the insurance and apply for a V5 and uk reg, your road tax will be done at this time. Glad things have come together for you matey, i hope you enjoy, hows about some piccys ? you show me yours and i will show you mine ;) |
