upchange problems??
 

Can anyone tell me if having a neutral between 5th and 6th fairly often is normal for a 1999 996 Biposto. Any suggestions would be much apprieciated.:) By the way mines Yellow.:sing::sing:

Its not unheard of........

How often do you get this?
Made any recent changes to the drive parts of the bike?
How many miles had she done?

On my 748 bip I find neutrals in 4to5 and 5to 6 occasionaly, but only if I try to 'flick' it in with the clutch at lowish revs. Positive boot sorts it :outdevil:

Now I clutchless change up from 3rd and have no probelms at all. Not sure if this is normal, but I have spoken with a couple fo Duke guys and they seem to have experienced similar.

This problem happens probably once out of every two rides, if that makes sense. The gearbox and drivetrain are all standard,only mods are Termies. chip and filter. She has only covered seven thousand miles and has allways been treated with total respect by myself and the previous owner, who is a mate of mine so i know its history. Apart from that everything works how it should?????

If its of any use, I used to get the odd neutral untill I went to a reverse gear change system and now all seems to be ok. I can only assume that as you press down on the gear lever to change up, that it tends to be a more positive action and hence engaement!!!.:o

Althought reverse change is not for everyone, I would not go back to STD change !

Agree 100% with you Toto. Just seems so natural after a while. Screws me up though when i take the Jota for a run coz not only is the gear change on the other side its now the reverse direction than the Duke.:o
