Lost my virginity - First MX experience

Had my first go on a crosser last weekend. Been dying to do it for ages and after loads of badgering my neighbour and a local farmer both agreed to let me loose on their prize possessions, namely a DR350, Husaberg 470 and an empty stubble field.

Boy what a hoot. Had such a larf and learnt loads too, all in the space of 2 hours.

Not wanting to sound too green, but the difference in that and road riding was wierd, especially the way the bike moves around beneath you, even in a straight line. That was the bit I wanted to get used to most, after hearing that's how so many road racers improve their handling skills.

The DR was good, rideable, tameable fun but the Husaberg 470 was a fire-breathing monster on streroids. Jesus, would that thing be scary over 15 ft high dirt jumps.

Had a great time and can't wait to go stubble-riding again. Roll on Sunday!!!!

Yours truly hoisting my first real wheelie....

About to scare myself ****less on the Husaberg

My neighbour and veteran crosser racer hoisting a mean one on the Husaberg

........and almost losing it as the rear digs in to the soft ground.....save of the year I reckon......

Agree, Guy, off-road riding is serious fun. It is a great way to improve your road riding too. I used to race enduro on a KTM 300 EXC. Only stopped because I just couldn't find the time anymore. Something had to give and that was one of them. I definitely intend to go back to it some day.

Spot on Guy...one of the best biking decisions I ever made, buying my DR350.

Your right about the DR being easy to ride...just what you need if you are venturing out on some heavilly rutted trails:roll:

Nice piccies by the way:lol:

Chillo's got a cracker for sale.

Cheers Harv,

The pics are a bit gash cos they're stills from the video footage we took. My wheelie was all of 1 second long but looks impressive in still mode:lol::lol::lol:

Come one Guido it should be a **** of **** for an ex BMXer!!!!

I had a go on a MX some time ago and I loved it. When I will have more time I will deffo buy a cheapo MX bike and have a go on some tracks when there is not trackdays or they are too expensive!

I used to ride a lot of off road stuff, mainly trials, but some dabbling with crossers in fields and practise tracks.

My last off-road stuff was about 3 years ago. My brother is one of the organisers of the Milton Buzzard club, they're all off road - trials, enduro and MX. I helped out doing the timing and course control at a few enduros, and my bro asked me to take his CR250 round as a travelling marshall. All I had to do was run round a 5 mile off road course at my own pace looking for fallen or injured riders so that I could help myself or radio up some St Johns assistance.

I did three laps and was seriously knackered. Forearms the size of Popeyes from arm pump...It's huge fun and a good way of getting seriously fit.

I'm the enduro secretary for a local club, and also the ACU rep for booking forestry land for trials & enduros.

A good place to check for info on events in the south east is www.endurouk.com (might be org).
This years events calender for this area can also be seen on www.normandymcc.co.uk.

If anyone wants to know more, or possibly get more involved in this area feel free to send me a U2U. :)

Cheers,
John.
