The strange thing is that I can't smell it burning, I've also checked the plugs and they look perfectly normal. No small spatters of oil either!

My 916 seems to me buring oil on motorway trips, I'm not sure if I should book it in for a very expensive re-build of look for a replacement lump!
Any suggestions?

My 1998 916 has a non locking side stand, as I'm not the tallest of people I come very close to dropping it a few times...
What can I do apart from get my legs extended or wear high heals?

Try using window cleaner!
Spray a light mist on the area, position the decal and leave for a while. Once the window clean has evaporated the decal will be stuck. Works for me
