Glyn, I used to own a sports tourer which I rode as hard as I could. The front tyre would wear out almost as quickly as the back - one time, I wore the sides out with the sprue still in place on the central groove.
The answer is: a sports tourer is not a sportsbike so take it easier or just suck it up!
