Lisa - having ridden the horses & bikes out over xmas - I find the best time is about 8am - 9.30 on xmas morning - ie, as soon as it is light. Roads are quiet, people getting up late, main church services not starting till 9.45/10ish.

Either that, or about 1 - 2 ish, cos they all seem to have got to the rellies - but watch out for dog walkers at this time! Family dogs being walked before or after lunch - by rellies who dont have a clue - and the dogs often come rushing out into the road to chase bike or horse. Kids also wobbling into roads on new bikes/skates etc

Boxing day, the same morning time too - cos shops not opening till later.

If roads & weather ok, we shall certainly be out for a blatt while turkey starts cooking on xmas day, aiming to have bikes firmly tucked up by 11
