It won't matter in the short run, but after some time you will find filiform corrosion developing beneath the paint finish. If this is not removed, the structural integrity of the wheels could be reduced (the strength of mag alloy that has turned to powder is very low!).

If you got them correctly primed - forget the above.

The company that did these work on Ferrari wheels and Lotus racing wheels (mags), they told me the process something to do with etching or something, I was too busy looking at the wheels to hear what he said.
