If it's just a flip-up stand then you can modify it to stop flippin' flipping-up by sawing off the sidestand bolt. Here's how: - put bike on a paddock stand - retract stand (it will have done it already) - undo stand pivot allen bolt and lock-nut (this can be done without removing stand as it usually stays in position due to retract spring) - saw off thread that protudes past back face of stand so that pivot bolt is flush on back-side. - file to remove sharp edges - re-install pivot bolt with copious amount of threadlock - adjust bolt tightness to ensure smooth operation of stand - once happy with bolt tightness, centre punch bolt flange edge so that it doesn't come undone. - remove bike from stand - ride away R X - |
Yes a very good tip, reminds me of a certain trip I had out, on the way back I thought I would pop in and see a mate who was in hospital after binning his bike, pulled up and no stand! The previous owner had greased the bolts and the stand had fallen off some where. Just try parking up your bike with out a stand! it’s a good job the misses was in when I got home.
