Surely if it wheelies, pulls like a train, has a good exhaust note and has left you buzzing for hours it has character?
For me all the jap bikes are as characterful as the 999, I've always found the 999 a bit sanitised. Exclusive, expensive with questionable reliability they may be but I don't think they have more character. Now the 996/8 is a different matter...
